It’s the post-industrial era with technological advancements rising at an exponential rate, population moving almost till 8 billion and metropolitan cities living under a pot of cultures. But even in this modern society, we rely on orthodox beliefs and ridiculous traditional processes which can’t survive in this fast moving and bustling city life. Even at this pace some rituals and religious conceptions are being held on to time-lapsed people, unable to accept the changes. Such trivial lumps would eventually spread out making this a major problem.
Most of the world’s major conflicts branch out from the roots of traditions. Separate beliefs and intolerance towards different ethnicities are ripping away the progress our human race has made. A different set of ideologies seems to be as a big contributor towards the destruction of humans and humanity as a whole like portrayed in the pages of the two World Wars.
One of the big conflicts which have occurred in the current world is the caste discrimination in the Third world countries. They still give priorities towards the higher castes. Such acts of ill-treatment and form of apartheid are completely unacceptable in the court of humanity but our old ‘ethics’ still allow this ruthless and merciless act of cowardice. With such a bug in the world's system, do you think that we can focus on reaching out to people far and wide, when we can’t even protect ourselves from our own irresponsible activities? In this world of despair and agony, what do we think we are leading ourselves into with these careless acts which could affect our world vastly?
At this point of human development, mankind’s own creations have turned upon oneself with religion being the main conflicting ideology of tons of conflicts in the recent years. Another way our growth has been slowed down is by the gap between the old orthodox ways of life and the modern way of city life. The old ways restricting people from normal day to day task making it a big barrier for people who aspire to achieve greatness but still live under the shadows of beliefs and so-called customs. In rural areas of many Third World Countries, young girls are still prohibited to go to schools or get educated in any form. The traditions of society argue that girls are only capable of locking themselves in the house. Such absurd beliefs need to be eradicated or otherwise, the development of our planet and our race will slowly come to a standstill.
Future introverts and world changers are just locked in their rooms unable to reach out to the sky. The mass ignorance and intolerance towards others is mainly due to the lack of education. Let’s make this our first priority and make education accessible to all. An ideal world would require the most basic quality us humans need, to be humane. Obviously, we can’t expect a utopian world but we can sure strive for one. The first step towards this is to redefine and break open the shackles of ‘boundaries’ and prejudices of all nations, communicate with each other without the intention of domination.
A solution to this could be a global governing body handling the international matters without the factor of patriotism and nationalism. To achieve our goal of an ideal world, we need to work hand in hand keeping our personal and national differences aside as this goal isn’t for one country or one individual but for the whole of mankind. Let us all be bound by what is fair and what is right as good boundaries definitely align with what is good just and valid. Mankind is fast losing its own battle and we are in desperate need of ‘humanity, acceptance and tolerance’.
