Korea is a country that has been impacted by war, more specifically, the Korean war. The Korean war had a big impact on the country such as the effects it had on the economy, socially and environmentally.
Korea (as shown above) is a peninsula located on the north-eastern area of china. From 1910 it was considered a colony of japan until the end of world war II (1945). Korea is a country with a Buddhist background and is called the hermit kingdom. The North Koreans later created their own religion, and since there is little to no freedom, that is the only legal religion. South Korea remains Buddhist however.
The geographical features of north Korea consist of rolling hills that divide western north Korea into a series of broad, level plains. Most of the mountains include the industrial area. About half the people in North Korea live in the west area. Forested mountains cover almost all of North Korea's central areas, these mountains are filled with valuable minerals and wood. North Korea's highest mountain is peat-san, it is 2771 meters tall and goes on to the border of china. Korea's longest river is the ayllu which flows westward for 789 kilometers to the yellow sea.
South Korea has forested hills and low-lying mountains covering most of the central and east western coast of South Korea. River valleys, hillsides, and some land along the coast are used for farming and fishing. Plains separated by low hills cover almost the entire southern and western coast. These regions prior to the Korean War were the agricultural economic backbone of South Korea.
The issue is war in Korea, mostly the Korean war as it impacted Korea the most. War is when 2 or more groups of people start fighting for control of a speck area of land. These groups are divided into hostiles, some groups would have other groups on their side. Other sides would not, and wage war by themselves.
Just after WWII Korea declared its independence, the north side was communist and were allies to Russia and China, and the bottom half was south Korea and was controlled by America. as you’d expect, there was rivalry between the two as they had different was o running a country. There were little fights on the border, but one day in June 1950, the North Koreans launched a surprise attack, they quickly rushed south Korea and caught them off guard. They quickly captured to the capital of South Korea, Seoul, and they nearly claimed the entirety of South Korea. That was the beginning of the Korean war.
T impacts of the Korean war socially include north and south Korea not being unified, which made the tension between the two global superpowers stronger than before, with the cold war. Man, families were broken up because of the Korean war and them living on other sides. There were also many casualties as millions of people died in the war, many were civilians that did nothing wrong, they were just caught in the war. Many people fell into poverty after the war because of the massive debt that North Korea was in (100 billion us dollars). After the war, china also put tension between the two countries, and North Korea's relationship with china is fading.
The environmental impacts of the Korean war include bomb testing that destroyed land, which also had lots of controversy along with the testing, some bombs had chemicals, that are harmful for wildlife and people. During the war they dug holes and poisoned the trees to get a better firing range, they would not hesitate to destroy most of the surrounding wildlife for the sake of war, after the war north Korea became majorly industrialized. That led to many trees being chopped down and poisoned in the sake of business. Many trees were also destroyed because of new roads and more factories being produced, creating a cycle that could destroy the environment of Korea, and they are very close to achieving that goal.
The economic impacts of the Korean war include the giant crash of the north Korean stock market, because of the massive debt of the war (around 100 billion used). this later led to north Korea becoming under military rule, making serve impacts on the people and surrounding cities. Mostly including South Korea. The way north Korea was making money afterward wasn’t helping the dept either, Russia slave camps gave north Korea had slave camps in Russia, they would make around 500 million dollars. But this was turned into very little as Russia kept 90% of the profits, and you had to pay for new roads and houses. The estimated amount of money out of the 500 million that Korea got to spend out of slowly became a pathetic 5 million.
Korea is attempting to fix the problem with peace talks with the use because they both have nukes that could be catastrophic to the environment and economically. Another way they are supporting the issue is that they are attempting to help the great dept that they are in. some people have set up charities for the poor people in North Korea that are suffering from the extreme working and living conditions. Overall there have been ways that they have partially managed the impacts of war, but there still is I big portion that has been left unhandled.
There are some ways for the impacts of Korea to be reduced. One of them is making more fundraisers so that the poor people don’t have to live such a harsh life and live in a better environment. Another way is trying to make North Korea more pacified and show them the great benefits of what it has, to stop the possibility of a war that could stop possibly end the world, this could accomplish disarming their nukes and helping the un become a more peaceful world. They could help more by planting a few more trees and becoming eco-friendlier as the Korean war had drastic impacts on the environment.
In conclusion, the Korean war had a drastic effect on the living state of Korea. It has had many impacts that are currently being fixed, other are already fixed and I have recommended some ways to help the cause and that the user should continue making north Korea a better country by helping them become more peaceful and stop the threat of the end of the world. And create a safer world altogether.
