One of the questions that have bothered the mind of many is whether people know why racial segregation occurs. In 1973, the Supreme Court declared that it did not understand why it happened and in doing so it dealt with the crushing blow to the civil rights movement. In Milliken vs. Brandley case, the court judged that the white suburbs of Detroit would be excluded in Detroit’s school desegregation plan (Byrd & Clayton, (2015). It was passed that black students were concentrated in Detroit due to unknown and unestablished factors. Ideally, racial segregation is not out of comfort and choice on the part of people of color but out of the extreme discrimination in the labor force.
The whites placed barriers to upward mobility in the United States. Racial segregation was also advanced by the stigmatization (Harris, 2017). The whites always looked down upon the black community and saw them as inferior and invaluable humans. Though students get to attend same classes, they do not socialize freely with students from other races.
