When i was little i loved taking the trips with my family to go to Marineland, a place that gave me the chance to see animals i would not of saw if it wasn't for here. It was also a place that i knew as being full of happiness. But once again that was when i was little before i knew what i know now. So here i am today to talk to you about Marineland and the many other places like it, like Seaworld. These places are advertised for being places that everybody loves. But does EVERYONE love it here? Do the animals that are mistreated on the daily love it here? NO. You going to these places only supports this cruelty. So stop. These places only lie to to the public, to us, they tell us that their animals are have good lives and that their healthy when in fact none of this is true. Firstly, Seaworld's deepest tank is only 40 feet deep. 40 FEET DEEP!
These tanks are supposed to house multiple orcas that are able to grow over 25 feet long. 40 feet is far to shallow for this. As a result of the shallowness there is lack of protection from the sun many of the orcas receive harsh sun burns, but the public would never know this because they cover it up by placing black zinc oxide on the orcas skin. In addition to this in the wild orcas can swim over 100 miles per day but when they are resected to such a small tank size they are unable to do this and it creates an stressful and unhealthy environment.
Secondly, because they are unable to actually swim it leads to collapsed dorsal which Seaworld also tries to pass off as healthy and natural. In the wild it is very rare for an orca to have this and according to peta kids, “ Only 1 to 5 percent of males in some population in the wild have them.” but, in captivity every single male orca has them. This is the result of the collagen deteriorating on their dorsal fins due to the unnaturally small tank size and lack of nutrition due to unhealthy diets given to them by seaworld.
They are only feed thawed fish. This isn't even relatively healthy or natural. Adding to the lies we have been told by seaworld is the lie that orcas live as long in captivity as they do in the wild. If a orca is in their natural habitat their average lifespan is over 50 years. At seaworld the average death rate is around 14 years old. How is this in any way the same? It is because its not, seaworld lies.
