The Negative Effects Women Empowerment Movement Caused

The world of today where women have unlimited possibilities has by far and to some extent had its problems. We can see that they are taking this empowerment overboard by trying to emulate people that that they look up to in everything. Plastic surgery is a thing of nowadays. They do not care if it will have a negative impact on them. For example in recent times, people have taken the concept of accepting themselves wrongly. The likes of Kim Kardashian, a socialite, being beautiful and having all the wealth makes the young girls want to be like her. They take the risk of having to go under the knife for plastic surgery so as to have the same looks. Michael Jackson; the late, had also undergone through plastic surgery. We can see that also men are falling for these traps because they want to look like others.

Competition among the women themselves has become a big problem. This is because they do anything in their power so as to acquire wealth. Prostitution has become popular among the youth forgetting that diseases of all sorts are all over. We are in the century where prostitution has become a full time job for most of the university students. Many believe that for them to get better grades, all they have to do is engage in sexual activities with their lecturers so as to get the grades they want. We can say that because women feel empowered and that they can do what they want it is right and just to engage in immoral behaviors. This has rooted away the cultural behaviors and self-respect.

Caring and sharing was a thing in the old age stereotype. Nowadays, women feel the need to be better than others and so as much as we say that empowerment is the way to go, most women are against it. They are verbally on the same page of empowerment but in real sense jealousy drives them. Continuous downfall of one being is the happiness of the other. They help each other to drag others in the mad to prevent prosperity simply because they do not have what the other has. (Stein, 2009)
