Tourism can generate more harm to one's country. Tourism can bring about many negative changes in one's country. Especially for poorer countries that have so many issues that are not solve, and if poorer countries were going to focus on tourism instead of the citizens, the poorer country issues would not be solve.
The negative side of tourism is that it will cause a permanent damage towards the resources that comes naturally, such as food, water and land. In a tourism business drinkable liquid, uses up a large amount of water on the tourists and the buildings such as hotels. Over tourism causes water crisis take for example, In Mediterranean, the hot weather, and the amount of tourists who consume more water when they are on vacation compare to when they were at home, the water they consume can be up to 440 liters a day. Secondly, it would affect is local resources like energy and food. Because of the seasonality in tourism, the tourist attraction would have more tourists at the most popular time of the year compare to the least popular time of the year, the increase in tourist would mean that the resources like food and water being use up at a very fast speed. In addition, as tourists keep increasing, countries would need to build more accommodation, it means they would need more land to build, this would not be beneficial for poorer countries.
Pollution in the air is tied to tourism. The number of tourist who flew by air from the year of 1972 to 1994 grew in great amount taking up to 60% of air travel. As tourists who flew by air increases, the more the air transportation would produce the air emissions. Acid rain, global warming, and also photochemical pollution is connected to the transport emissions and emissions from energy. Carbon dioxide are being emitted out from air transport which tourist use as a means to travel, this is why the air pollution can become extremely dreadful for the locals. For example, during an excursion in order for the tourists to return to the bus with cool air, the tour bus did not turn off the engines. The waste on this earth is endless, and because of the endless waste the poorer countries would be greatly affected because most of the garbage always finds its way to the poorer countries. The waste that keeps accumulating is store in a desolate, uninhabited land; the locals who live near will be affected by the harmful gas. However with the advance in technologies cruise lines are created to dispose of the waste. But if the amount of tourists do not decrease the problem would never be solved, the earth, the developed countries, developing countries would be affected. And to top it off, with how much waste is accumulated in the ocean, it can made the water contaminated, the animals living in the ocean would gradually become extinct creatures.
The positive side of tourism for poorer countries is that they can have the chance to learn new cultures, how do other country people dress, the way they talk, what they eat and drink in different occasion, how do they behave, diversity of religions, and the different types of events they host.
