'Love is expansion, selfishness is contraction' these words are said by the great Indian saint Swami Vivekanand which means love is therefore the only law of life. He who loves lives, he who is selfish is dying. Therefore love for love's sake, because it is the only law of life, just as you breathe to live. I personally believe that one should love someone for who they are and not take their physical appearance or wealth into consideration. Love can be very powerful if done with the right person and can bring a person peace. Peace brings harmony in our lives which later on brings people more closer to one another. With love we expand and share our good qualities which in whole would make this world a better place for our current and future generation. God created us to express a love that is unconditional, pure, selfless, forgiving, and sacrificial. This love therefore is the inner most desire of our heart and without it we will never find peace. Love can be expanded breaking all barriers on its path. When a person is in love everything around him/ her seems beautiful. There is no chance for contraction. Love always comes with the thinking of giving and not taking. It is true that one should always spread love among all the people around them. Love can help in creating strong bondings and get people by their side during hard times.
Love can change anything and anyone. It is truly the most powerful thing we have. It is what keeps us together, it is what keeps us apart. There is no greater force on this earth. The love a mother has for her children, a brother has for his sister, a husband has for his wife, love compels people to do great things and it is these great things that change the world. Love brings us a step closer to the world we want live and believe in. Loving a right person or helping someone not just brings us peace or helps us spiritually but also brings us a sense of purpose or satisfaction, it can promote positive behaviour in people around us or helps us live a full and satisfied life. 'All selfishness is contraction' by this Swami Vivekanand ji points those people who judge other people from their appearance and not their knowledge or sense resposibility or any other qualities that one should have or one should look for in a person. If someone is in love with the other person because of how they look or how much they earn that is attraction or selfishness and not love.
In general English selfishness is when a person is ready to take advantage of other people for their own pleasure or welfare regardless of others. In business world we can’t expect someone to be kind hearted as to move ahead in life one needs to be selfish. On the other hand selfishness is also terrible as one wouldnt have any real friends or he/ she wouldn’t know the value of friends and family, all their focus would be on themselves. Selfishness in love is also similar to selfishness in humanity. Humanity here is not just some subject but human's nature, behaviour and character. It is true that a selfish person only spreads negativity. They can never support or be happy for someone else. A selfish person will always think about himself first that 'I' should have a bigger house or that 'I' should earn more money than my neighbour. The truth is, a selfish person can never be at peace. One should always love and find ways to help others who are in need as 'what goes around, comes around'.
