Why is the singing posture so important? The right posture is probably the most common trait most singers miss in their early years. If you change your vocal position slightly, your singing voice will immediately improve. A good posture can be defined as the resulting posture, which allows an aligned column (not twisted) and joints that are not bent. The right vocal position not only improves your breathing but also optimizes it and gives you a voice that sounds better.

What is a good singing posture? Some essential elements make up proper singing posture. Most new singers think they have no postural difficulties; it’s not just about confidence in performance, it’s the primary anatomy. Believe it or not, the position of the head, hands, arms, chest, abdomen, feet and even knees help to improve the quality of your voice.

Take a minute to assess your vocal performance and ask yourself the following questions: Do I have both feet firmly on the floor? Are my shoulders relaxed? Is my spine straight? If you gave an affirmative answer to these three questions, then you’ve started well, but there’s a lot more. Here’s a more detailed checklist to help you correct your vocal posture:

Start from the top; your chin should be parallel to the floor and slightly folded in or out.

Hold the chest up in a new place and shoulders down or slightly back.

Keep your stomach firm and stretchy at the same time. You must practice controlling these muscles as you learn to breathe with your diaphragm.

Your hands should be relaxed and stay by your side. Keep it away from your body so the air can circulate you.

Even if your nerves are accumulating, remember never to lock your knees, they must be in a free position.

If you tilt the weight of your body slightly forward, you should spread your feet shoulder-width apart. You can put one foot in front of the other to keep your balance.

When you are new to the singing world, it seems too much to digest at the same time, but do not worry: once you have chosen the right attitude to sing, you will become more aware of its daily effect on your voice.

Here are some helpful tips that you can try at home to help you:

Stand upright against the wall:

As you move away from the wall, make sure the heels, calves, shoulders, and head are touching the wall at the same time. Hold this position for a few minutes.

Increase your buoyancy in one position:

To understand how your weight distribution affects your voice, spread your feet apart and change your weight until you’re almost on your toes.

Expand and contract your belly:

While standing, place your hand on your abdomen to ensure that your tummy expands as you inhale and relax as you exhale.

Here you are! By perfecting your posture, you improve your voice to sing and tune your body. It will not be easy to correct posture habits by going for a walk, of course, but to continue practicing: the benefits apply to your voice and your overall image.
