A hero has several traits that make them seem or look heroic. Without certain qualities a hero cannot be simply called a hero. Harry Wu manages to fit into some of these qualities, in his own way. He went back to China five times, each time knowing that his life was on the line. Lazy was not in his dictionary as he took photos and documented life of prison cells and labor camps in China. His goal was to get the information out to the public and hope for change in the world. Harry has the qualities of a modern day hero who is trying to make the world a better place to reside in. Harry is by far one of the most daring men in the world to document the life of prison inmates. A hero is a person who has perseverance and mindset goal.
Harry Wu is a good hero figure because of his perseverance. He went back to China five times, just to document the conditions of prisons and labor camps. On the fifth time he went there, he was captured and put into jail by Chinese officials for intruding. He was then later deported out of China by the United States. He risked his life just to get the word out of the conditions in China to the rest of the world. This quality gives Harry a heroic figure because all heroes need to be persistent if they want to change something in the world. Harry was consistent and went back to China several times to document life in labor camps and prison to inform the people to make a change happen in China. His perseverance shapes the very mold of his outer shell.
Another factor that adds on to his heroicness is his ability to focus on a certain goal and go through with that goal. Because of this Harry had the drive to continue going back to China to document conditions in labor camps and prisons. He was aware that every second he spent on Chinese soil was a chance of being captured. The reason why he went back to China was to record conditions and display them in a live show back in the United States. He earned quite a reputation from this and knew that if he kept getting more and more information, he would eventually get enough recognition from the public to try and change the conditions in China. His power to focus on a single, main goal is very powerful and whenever he sets his mind on something, he heads that goal straight on and doesn’t let anything stop him.
A person with perseverance and the ability to focus on a goal to change the world for good morals is definitely a hero. Harry fit both qualities of what a hero is and consists of. His perseverance gave him the power to continue trying to get information of the conditions of prisons and labor camps in China out to the rest of the world. His mindset gave him the willpower to continue doing what he is doing, to try and change the world. There are several other traits and qualities that can define a hero, but these are by far the most important. A person with perseverance and motivation should be considered a hero because they are the ones that try and make a change in the world. A hero should be able to set a mind goal and focus on it for good morals.
