Imagine living in a closed environment, not being able to choose when to eat, daily plans, and more. Picture going through surgery day after day with no pain medication, forced to live as a prisoner without committing a felony. This is the life of lab animals undergoing tests. Animals are infected with diseases that they would never customarily contract, minuscule mice develop tumors as big as their own bodies, kittens are intentionally optically incapacitated, rats are made to suffer seizures, and primates’ skulls are cut open and electrodes are implanted in them. Experimenter’s force aliment chemicals into animals, conduct reiterated surgeries on them, implant wires in their brains, pulverize their spines, and much more. In order to end the torture of animals and the endless pain they endure, harmful animal testing should be stopped; it is no longer relevant or appropriate.

What is animal testing? Animal testing currently plays a part in scientific research paper, narcotic advancements, medicinal inquest, and cosmetic studies. Animals are regularly utilized as experimental subjects due to similarities found in their anatomy in comparison to humans, granting data on the reaction in the human body to specific substances. The primary reason for testing on animals is to expand on modern-day information and beliefs, by utilizing and experimenting on particular breeds of animals. Scientific exploration targets at discovering how certain life forms evolve and operate. The author should write, "Scientific exploration aims to discover how certain life forms evolve and operate."

Close Comments It aims to devise and collect more knowledge about a species, its physiology, biology, tendencies, and response to certain environmental conditions. Before evaluating a new drug on humans, it is always assessed on animals. Different doses are given to obtain information on the reactions caused by the substances. The author could improve their phrasing for clarity. It would be clearer to write, "Different doses of a substance are given to animals to understand the reactions they cause."

Close Comments Metabolic assessments are also carried out on how the body of the animal treats the drug, and the information is documented in the reaction. Mental studies are also conducted to evaluate animal behaviors to specific conditions or stressors in hopes to resolve crucial questions about human conduct. For this reason, animals are too often confined to certain mental illnesses including addiction, trauma, starvation and maternal isolation. Data is compiled, and assumptions are strung to stipulate additional information to understand human behavior in these scenarios.

Animals in labs are deprived, isolated, and tormented; animal testing should become extinct before the animals do. On top of the deprivation, U.S. law sanctions animals to be burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated, starved, drowned and addicted to drugs. No experiment, no matter how painful or picayune, is prescribed and anodynes are not required. In laboratories, “Each year, more than 100 million animals — including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds — are killed…for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, and cosmetics testing”. Animals are killed merely out of pure inquisitiveness. Exhibiting that animals are unnecessarily being tortured, when they could be used for things such as food to fuel life on earth. According to the animal rights organization PETA, “Investigations inside the laboratories of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Utah revealed that mice and rats were given enormous tumors and painful, deadly illnesses. Rats had holes drilled into their skulls for invasive brain experiments”. Extensive laws are put on protecting dogs cats and other animals. Restrictions are not put on mice and rats. They are allowed to be put through skull and spine surgeries as well as be burned with no pain relief medication. Humans have similar nervous systems to rats and mice. They feel joy, pain, and sadness. This is identical to dogs and cats but, the rodents are not protected by law. Animals are tortured in labs, often with no anesthesia, and forced into drug addiction, this crucifixion should be brought to a halt.

The next reasoning against animal testing is that it is inessential for experimentation; therefore, it needs to be stopped. Animals may well be plenary organisms, but they are the erroneous ones because animals and humans differ considerably with regard to anatomy, physiology, and metabolism. Even animals of different species can react quite differently to chemicals and pharmaceutical drugs, meaning that it is not possible to know whether a human will react identically or differently predicated on the results of experiments conducted on animals. Most drugs tested on animals are too harmful or ineffective for humans, “92% of experimental drugs that are safe and effective in animals fail in human clinical trials because they are too dangerous or don’t work”. Proving that animals react very differently to drugs. Even if a drug may cause one effect on an animal, it may create a drastically different outcome in humans. Animal testing can cause dangerous problems for humans, because of the uncertain results of the medicine and other products that were previously tested on animals. In 2011 the Institute of Medicine found, “There was no current need for chimpanzees in biomedical research. The NIH responded by retiring 90 percent of its chimpanzees”. Humans nearest relatives remain chimpanzees, and they share up to 98 percent of their qualities. Since they are not valuable for human research, at that point no different species would be. There are an excessive number of factors in life structures, quality articulation, digestion, resistant working, and so on, among species to securely and typically hypothesize information. Many recognize that animal testing is unethical because the results are often times irrelevant to humans.

It is arguable that the loss of animal life is incomparable to the findings brought from animal testing. However, animals are living breathing organisms that do not deserve to be tortured in hopes of finding a cure or miracle product of some kind. “Each year 100 million animals die from animal testing and up to 90% of animals tested are not accounted for in the official statistics of animals tested”. Lab animals live distressing, cruel, and unnatural existences of day by day containment and hardship. The only change in their routine will be from, going into surgeries and tests where their bodies are invaded, mangled, and injected with unknown substances. Animals do not deserve this kind of unjust treatment. No matter the positives of animal testing, “The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?” (Jeremy Bentham). Animals are exceptionally intelligent and are fully capable of sensing pain. Animals possess a similar nervous system to humans, except theirs is less complex. When enduring pain animals pupils dilate, their appetite decreases attitude changes, blood pressure increases, and heart rate rises. Animal testing is heartless, atrocious, inhumane and most of all uncalled-for.

To conclude the essay, animal testing has induced unnecessary pain to innocent animals and should be terminated. Testing has produced some advancements in the past, but it is a barbaric way of trying to advance the world. Every year helpless animals endure procedures that ultimately end in death. They are not given the option to live free and are forced into confined cells, either ending up disfigured or killed. If willing to force an end to this injustice sign PETA’s pledge to be cruelty-free, request alternatives to dissection, and bolster foundations and organizations that don't torment animals in remorseless tests.

What can be improved
The essay "The Reasons Why Animal Testing Should Be Stopped" effectively argues against animal testing. However, there are a few shortcomings that could be improved upon. Firstly, there are some grammar errors that could be corrected. For example, the writer uses the phrase "tests on animals" multiple times, which could be replaced with synonyms to avoid repetition. Additionally, in the sentence "There are alternatives to animal testing, it's cheaper and provides accurate results," the use of "it's" instead of "they're" is incorrect. Secondly, the essay would benefit from a stronger introduction. The opening sentence, "Animal testing has been a controversial topic for many years," is a broad and generic statement that does not grab the reader's attention. Instead, the writer could begin with a startling statistic or personal anecdote to engage the reader. Finally, while the essay provides several strong arguments against animal testing, it could be strengthened by including counterarguments and rebuttals. For example, the writer could address the argument that animal testing is necessary for medical research and provide evidence of alternative methods that have been successful. To improve the quality of the essay, the writer should focus on refining sentence structure and grammar, strengthening the introduction, and addressing counterarguments. By doing so, the essay will become even more persuasive and effective.
