Picture going through surgery day after day with no pain medication, forced to live as a prisoner without committing a felony. This is the life of lab animals undergoing tests. Animals are infected with diseases that they would never customarily contract, minuscule mice develop tumors as big as their own bodies, kittens are intentionally optically incapacitated, rats are made to suffer seizures, and primates’ skulls are cut open and electrodes are implanted in them. They are allowed to be put through skull and spine surgeries as well as be burned with no pain relief medication. Humans have similar nervous systems to rats and mice. They feel joy, pain, and sadness. This is identical to dogs and cats but, the rodents are not protected by law. When enduring pain animals pupils dilate, their appetite decreases attitude changes, blood pressure increases, and heart rate rises. Animal testing is heartless, atrocious, inhumane and most of all uncalled-for.
