The Impact of Nursing: Making a Difference in People’s Lives

The nursing program is one of the most appreciated, satisfying, and growing careers available in today's generation. By joining nursing, I can make a difference in people's lives and help through my career. I am motivated by the work of those in the nursing program, and the opportunity to work in a variety of medical settings and learn daily are my reasons for becoming a nurse.

The Case for Nursing: Why I Want to Pursue a Career in Healthcare

Firstly, I aim to make a difference in people's lives. Growing up near a church, where I attended every Sunday night, the preachers often used this Bible verse: "It’s more blessed to give than to receive." I have always wished to give to others in whatever ways I can. Therefore, I consider becoming a nurse as I grow up. For example, if I could reach others while they are in their difficulties and suffering physically or emotionally, I will be able to support them in my profession whenever I can. There will not be anything that makes me happier than to see my patients become happy and satisfied. Furthermore, expanding and enriching patients’ lives every day throughout my profession can be a great thing. This commitment to improving lives is a cornerstone of nursing and one that resonates deeply with my personal values.

Inspiration from Healthcare Professionals

The second reason to be a nurse is that I am highly inspired by nurses and what they can do. Although my respected parents or relatives were not my primary motivation, I was fortunate to meet some healthcare professionals who inspired me with their skills, diligence, and passion for their nursing careers. Their examples led me to realize that nursing would be a fulfilling career for me. I can see myself making a significant difference in my clients' experiences while they are in hospital settings. This inspiration is not just about admiration but also about seeing the tangible impacts nurses have on patient outcomes and healthcare systems.

Opportunities for Growth and Learning

Additionally, the opportunity to choose where to work and further my education excites me. Working in various hospitals, physicians' offices, healthcare services, nursing care facilities, and clinics will allow me to learn every day. Enjoying the experience of learning the routines in each type of facility will give me great satisfaction to invest my time in the nursing industry. Furthermore, as a nurse, I can choose the department I want to work in. For instance, if I initially start working as a Geriatric nurse but do not enjoy working with elderly people, I can undertake short training and work as a Pediatric nurse. Moreover, as a nurse, I will have the opportunity to interact with patients, medical staff, and doctors every day. This interaction will allow me to learn from other careers and add to my knowledge. The continuous learning aspect is a significant draw for me, as it ensures that I remain engaged and challenged throughout my career.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I want to be a nurse because I will be able to help others in need, inspired by nurses’ work and their impact. Additionally, the ability to work in various medical settings and learn new things daily motivates me to enter the nursing field. The combination of personal fulfillment, professional inspiration, and continuous learning opportunities makes nursing an ideal career path for me.
