The following essay will be focused on the importance of friends and the main things person should understand about friendship.
The first thing that one should understand about friendship over a period of time, is the fewer the friends they have the more time one has to focus on the relationship. Having more friends doesn’t mean better, but having only a few allows the person to get to know them more as well as focus and build on their friendship. Quality is much more important than quantity and having fewer friends allows stronger bonds to form. Those friends will become a second family, meaning sticking up for one another in any situation as well as trusting one another and keeping the commitment of being loyal to each other. Not only does having a small group of friends allow one to get to know them better but allows the person to get to focus on themselves. Having fewer friends means one doesn’t have to spend so much time investing in each other's relationships or drama. Friends confide in one another with their insecurities and feelings. All of that can become demanding at a certain point and therefore stress both parties out. What are friends for? Friends are meant to be there to comfort and advise each other but when having to many friends, one is not able to focus on their problems and offer advice to the best of their ability.
The main thing to understand about friendship is that friends come and go throughout life. Not every friendship that is made will be a good one and it's important to realize that. Whether it was toxic relationship or things just didn’t work out its key to be able to let them go. Not every friend that you make is going to be a good one and individuals need to realize who will be there for them in the long run. Throughout our lifetime, we meet people and build friendships. Some friends can end up being deceitful and very untrustworthy, therefore creating a toxic friendship. It is easy for friends to find a million reasons to pick on each other and bring them down rather than to confront themselves and how they aren't perfect. People constantly build barriers because they know how easy it is to be under fire for the littlest mistakes. If you call someone off and break the friendship after a first falling out, one will never know if the friendship had potential for honest growth.
Losing friends doesn’t necessarily mean it's from the toxicity, but people change and grow. If that person is growing in a different direction than the other, it's okay to call it quits or take some time. As there will be friends that will need to be let go of, there will be more opportunities to meet new people. It's important to have a kind and friendly attitude when meeting new people as well as realizing that all friendships are different and should be treated differently. No two people are the same, so it only makes sense that no two friendships are the same.
Its valuable to be able to see unique qualities each friend has and adapt to those qualities so that one can strengthen the friendship has a whole. Seeing that each friendship is different and unique, is critical in having successful relationships and will help each person in distinguishing and letting go of toxic relationships.
