The student database is a resource I will be using in my classroom to meet my student’s needs and to plan for my lessons. The student database helps me with planning my lessons because it indicates what are my students learning styles, their multiple preferences, and their academic levels. For example; My classroom consists of students that our visual and kinesthetic learners. This information helps me with choosing activities that consist of hands-on learning.
The formative and summative assessments I will be using in my classroom to check my students understanding is the mid-chapter checkpoints and the chapter tests. Based on my student's results on the assessments, I can Identify which students need more guidance in a particular lesson. I plan to do small group intervention and use different strategies to reteach the concepts that the students missed. (4.b. designs and aligns formative and summative assessments that match learning objectives and lead to mastery.) I plan to incorporate a variety of assessments throughout my delivery and instruction. Some assessments I plan to use in my classroom is I-Ready, chapter test, and weekly assessments. These assessments will help me monitor my student's progress and their learning gains. (4.c. uses a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress, achievement and learning gains.)
I believe the teacher and parent communication is a key to the student’s success in the classroom. I plan to communicate with the students and parents on a weekly basis about student’s individual test scores. I will explain to them the importance of their test scores and how it can affect their grades. I will also discuss with the parents about their student’s strengths and their areas for growth. I plan to integrate technology in the classroom by having students use I-Ready. I-Ready is an interactive learning program that personalizes students learning by pinpointing the student’s areas for growth. Using the program I-Ready will help me identify my students progress in the classroom and it will also help me meet my student’s needs. Parents can also use I-Ready to check and monitor how the students are doing in the classroom. (4.f. Applies technology to organize and integrate assessment information.)
I plan to use the student’s assessment scores from the student database to meet my students learning needs and to group my students for instruction. The student database will also help me meet the needs of the ELL and ESE students in the classroom. I will group my students based on their test scores. Using the program I-Ready will help me plan for individual and small group instruction. I will also use the student's I-Ready scores to group them based on the student’s area for growth. Throughout the year I plan to change the groups based on students’ progress and achievements. The student database will also be helpful for the ELL and ESE students. (4.a. Analyzes and applies data from multiple assessments and measures to diagnose students learning needs, informs instruction based on those needs and drives the learning process.)
