Joy and Hope, not only a feeling but a theme, portrayed through many medias and texts. A very important text being the Bible which shows great depth, description and meaning to this theme. The beliefs, teachings and practises of the Catholic Church are adimite throughout the Bible but also the theme of Joy and Hope.
The theme of Joy and Hope is displayed within this bible passage. The passage is Romans 15:13 and goes - ¨May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit¨. The words joy and hope are spoken within this passage describing the way you should feel if you trust and allow God into your life. In the photo provided a dove is shown, a dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit. So when the dove flies alongside this passage it symbolises the holy spirit alongside us. God wants us to realise that when we allow him into our lives and he is present we will become content. We are also reminded that hope and joy is a gift from the Holy Spirit that will only be received if we preserve and continue to believe in the Catholic Faith and our God almighty.
The church teaches how we must believe, in our faith, the one God who is our Father, the son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Joy and hope is taught and practised through many of the sacraments. Baptism, the first sacrament, which forgives sin and unites the christian with Christ. Confirmation, the sealing of the christianaity created at baptism. First Eucharist is also known as First Communion, a practise which takes place to absorb the sins that are made after Baptism, allowing the christian to take the bread, the body of Christ and wine, the blood of Christ. Marriage the union of a man and a woman who declared their love and commitment to each other for the rest of their lives. Lastly Holy Orders, similar to marriage but the union of man and his faith and God allowing him to become a priest, bishop or deacon. Although these sacraments of Joy and Hope only happen once in our lives we still practise Joy and Hope when we go to mass and pray to God.
Joy and Hope, noticeably adamite throughout everyone's life but even more so a christians/catholics. This passage helps us to understand how to find it, believing in God who will then fill you up with joy and hope. The Catholic Church teaches us about this and how to believe and the practises associated with this theme. The bible passage chose is an amazing, diverse however relevant text too used to portray this theme.
