The Unrealistic Concept on The Issue of Unethical Behavior in Modern-day Taxation

The issue of ethical behavior in taxation raises significant moral questions about justice and fairness in today’s business world (James, 2013). Although the issues espoused by Crowe are ancient, the reflection of ethics and taxation in the global business world is characterized by realities and pressures of the modern world. This is because the values and concepts of tax policy such as freedom, equity, and distributive justice present various interpretations with regards to today's conceptual framework and consequently the teaching on taxation (Morrison, 2015).

Typically, the arguments of ethics and taxation entail understanding what is right and wrong within the corporate world (James, 2013). Although this may seem simple on the surface, it is characterized by complexity concerning tax policy, especially in the modern business environment. For instance, ethical behavior questions usually arise on a regular basis in professions like accountancy and tax preparation. However, with the ever-changing dynamics, pressure, and realities of the modern world, making that crucial decision of distinguishing right and wrong in a given taxation scenario is rather difficult. Thus, making an informed and moral judgment is quite a challenge (Morrison, 2015).

In addition, the concepts, values, and beliefs of tax policy in the modern world are coupled with lengthy sessions of legislative committee which often entails detailed testimony of the business (James, 2013). That notwithstanding, making a vital decision about who and what should be taxed is based on the current situation and dynamics on the ground, making it hard to safeguard the integrity and moral aspect of taxation. Therefore, in today’s corporate world, the concepts and beliefs for ethical behavior within the tax world are not realistic.
