Most of the tangible items, theories, etc. they can be understood by a theory orbe predicted. International politics helps us predict the next move of a state, or even explain the reasoning behind a state’s action.
By looking at international systems we can tend to predict a states behavior or patterns among the sovereign states. We ave seen the influence international political system has on its states, one of these example sis the Jay Treaty, it kept the United states in the Loop but left it out of conflict. Even though the United States in the 18th century( mostly because it was weak, and surrounded by powerful countries)was a isolated country it soon realized it had just as much power as some of these states inn years to come. Political scientist are interested in international system because it explains a states behavior. Some renowned political scientist are J. David Singer, and Kenneth Waltz.
International politics go beyond focusing on the individuals but rather the cluster, the interaction between several states. Another way of analyzing international politics is focusing on the key characteristics of the society, which can help shape the state’s perception. This includes anywhere from if the country is democratic or authoritarian, or what is the size of the economy, what kid of ideology is the society based off? By answering those questions one an understand the behavior or interest of certain states. The last analysis is the focus more on the outcome, or inn other words the explanation to it all. A political scientist analyzes and questions all of the motives and interest of a state. We can use this in our.Own history when the U.S. decided to expand , mostly because it believed itself to be superior, and prestigious, political scientist understand the force used against Mexico by the U.S. in the Mexican American war. The Treaty of Guadalupe de Hidalgo was the result of this war, to which Mexico unjustly lost, it lead to the expansion of America.
When it comes to systematic structures and rules there are three different kinds, unipolar, bipolar structures, and multipolar. Usually in multipolar systems there teds to be more smaller problems than those who are not multipolar. These constructions are not stagnant, in fact a state can change their systematic structures. This has been seen in Ancient Rome, in Europe, the United States, and the Soviet. In the 1700’s Britain and France are in a multipolar system, up until the late 1800’s, and theUnited Sates became a unipolarity system.
The Monroe doctrine essentially was created, its intentions were to ward off anyone that tries to oppress Latin America, and also America would remain neutral if Europe decided to leave U.S and Latin America to them. Britain rejected the demands the Doctrine imposed, but instead of going to war the British backdown. By the year 1895 United States had a strong economical society, but Britain still remained stronger in the military forces. At the same time Germany started to push Britain, which soon Germany took control of most Western Europe. Still nonetheless less we recognize the great power and size Britain had. Britains defeat gave way too United States and its relations to Latin America. Conclusion: Lastly one must understand that a country will act upon its best interest. We have seen this time and time again, whether it be the Unites states, Latin America, Europe. This self interest has caused many broken relations, but also new relations. We can use the levels of analysis, and foreign policies to best try to understand, but everything has paved its way to present day.
