Love is an intense feeling of deep affection. Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. These are two words that describe the events and plot twist of by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Love describes the feelings and affection of the love triangle Daisy is entertaining between her husband and mistress. Hope describes the desire of Gatsby wanting a marriage and life despite daisy marriage with Tom. Hope is what makes the 5 years of history with Daisy and Gatsby relevant to their present day, but present day Daisy is married to Tom and has a history with him also. When you build a life upon love and hope, it can lead to destruction and abhorrent circumstances. F . Scott Fitzgerald develops this through because he allows Daisy to entertain by reminiscing with Gatsby about the past. He allows Gatsby to continue to condemn and love a women from the past that is married.

Includes characterization to convey the idea that seeking love is not worth the consequences. “I did love him once-but I loved you too” “Even that's a lie said Tom savagely she didn't know you were alive”. The novel then goes on to give back story of how this love triangle creates tension amongst the characters. It creates heated tension between Tom and Gatsby, yet Daisy has not made an attempt to choose and continues leading Gatsby on. As a result Gatsby will continue to love Daisy not knowing Daisy's true self or person is not the same as 5 years ago, she has became about being married to Tom and his wealth which changed her as a different woman. Gatsby initial motive is to get and continue life with Daisy but as it appears Daisy also loves Tom 'Even alone I can't say I never loved Tom'. As a consequence to Gatsby loving a woman from the past who appears to be married to Tom whom she loves and been with since, the love triangle will only negatively affects the one whom desires a certain thing to happen.

Gatsby has a deep feeling of love and affection for Daisy. He is very blind sided to the fact that she is married. He only wants Daisy to himself “He wanted less of daisy than that she should go to Tom and say I never loved you”. He wanted nothing less than Daisy to be married to him and away from Tom. Gatsby is still stuck on the old Daisy from years ago. “He knew that Daisy was extraordinary but he didn't realize just how extraordinary a nice girl could be. She vanished into her rich house, into her rich full life leaving Gatsby nothing”. But Gatsby blind side will continue to affect his ability to see the new Daisy, Toms wife Daisy. Not 5 years ago Daisy! His hope and affection of love is the falling resolution of this novel. Gatsby would do anything for the love of Daisy. His motive is to just get her back. His hopes are to high and desires something that is profoundly wasteful.

It is unfortunate that no one ever knows the bad intentions or toxic traits until the end. 'No telephone message arrived' When it's late and what's happened had already been done or occurred. But in this love triangle situation Gatsby will be the one afflicted and damaged. Is love worth the effort, time, feelings, hope and emotion for someone like Gatsby? No it is not . Gatsby has given all of his love and affection to Daisy just for her to move on and get married to another man . It is understandable for her needing another to take care of her . But not for her to have a husband and entertain another man (Gatsby) whom she knows loves her eternally. Who would do anything for her. A man that she had a history of love with. But it is fully not Daisy who is toxic. It is also Gatsby, he is toxic to himself for his hope of anything going back how they were 5 years ago. Especially him seeing her being in a marriage with another man. It was very toxic of him dying with the thought of him thinking about daisy before himself died. But Daisy thoughts were on her wealth and Tom. She acted as though nothing happened the Gatsby never came back . 'I called up Daisy half an hour after we found him, called her instinctively and without hesitation. But she and Tom had gone away….left no address'. Gatsby died with love for daisy in his heart . He died with not knowing who Daisy really was as person. Daisy did not even have the nerve to come to Gatsby funeral . But yet she was the reason as to why he died . 'Was Daisy driving ? Yes he said after a moment, but of course I'll say It was me'. He took a bullet that was not meant for him. Initially as a result love and hope can lead to unfortunate despairing adverse consequences.

In the final analysis of the love and hope concluded as an unfortunate negative plot twist. Daisy had ran to her wealth and husband. Gatsby is has died. The only person that was there to care about his death was Nick. Nick was the one who actually called It was unexpected for daisy to not care or give condolences to the man she entertained. To the man she told she love and was with for 5 years. But it was no surprise to the audience that knew Daisy was toxic.
