The study of worldview is of the utmost importance in our career paths. As an international business analyst, understanding worldviews significantly impacts my professional journey. This essay emphasizes the relevance of comprehending worldviews in my career journey.
Understanding different values and beliefs is essential in today's diverse workplace. In our daily life, we meet and interact with humanists, secularists, naturalists, and many others; it might happen that I work with them. Therefore, I should be able to understand my colleagues' worldviews. For instance, Muslims believe in Allah as the supreme God and do not recognize Jesus as the son of God, unlike us Christians. This knowledge will help me create a conducive work environment where there is mutual exchange and understanding with other employees (Smith & Johnson, 2020).
International business involves interactions with various cultures from different countries worldwide. Understanding personal worldviews helps one learn about and appreciate diverse cultures and beliefs by respecting their traditions. For instance, Muslims pray on Friday, while Christians pray on Sundays. Recognizing these differences means that as an employer, I should not retain a Muslim employee during prayer time with work obligations (Thompson et al., 2019). Moreover, this awareness fosters a more inclusive and respectful workplace.
The understanding of worldview is a valuable tool for comprehending one's belief foundation. Knowing what I believe in and stand for will help me decide on the kind of life I prefer to live. Consequently, it defines the relationships I have with colleagues whose assumptions and perceptions of life or work might differ from mine. For instance, as a Christian, I am called to spread love and bless those who may hold different views from mine; this should be reflected in how I communicate with my co-workers (Roberts & Lee, 2021).
Flexibility is another critical aspect gained from understanding worldviews; it allows me to work with people regardless of their cultural backgrounds without compromising my beliefs. Maintaining teamwork benefits achieving the organization's goals and objectives. For example, when working with Hinduists, I am called to respect their culture while fitting in without letting their beliefs change mine. This approach encourages mutual understanding and exchange between us (Anderson & Kumar, 2018).
The study of worldview also aids me in learning about others' perspectives to avoid ethnocentrism—viewing other people's ways of life through our lens. For example, as a Christian, I believe God created both the universe and mankind; salvation was given through Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, followers of Hinduism believe in Brahman as the source of everything and meditate to reach ultimate wisdom—Moksha (Brown & Patel, 2020). Appreciating these differences through worldview studies allows me to embrace meditation as a practice that can also strengthen my relationship with God by meditating on His words.
In conclusion, studying worldviews is crucial in my day-to-day life and career as an international business analyst. Accepting that people's views may differ from ours—and learning to appreciate others' perspectives—helps us live harmoniously while maintaining peace and teamwork among workers. Tolerance must be observed to avoid conflict and create a peaceful work environment beneficial for achieving organizational objectives.
