Ever since I Have learned to read and write at ….............. school my writing has been very limited. I have always avoided writing, not because I’m being lazy or I don’t necessarily have time, but because I have despised it for so long because I’m am not very good at it. I believe something happened in Elementary school that turned me away from writing. In third grade I was given the topic of a Magic Carpet. I was supposed to write about it, and I did. I wrote 3 pages worth of writing, more than anyone in the class. The teacher gave me a C. I couldn’t believe what happened, and I wasn’t at an age that I could really understand why. So I just didn’t like writing anymore.
I have never found a process of writing that I like. My writing typically has a beginning, middle and an end, In 3 short paragraphs or less. I do not have a typical writing process, I just wright whatever sounds good in my head at that time. I’m not very creative. I am not good at just making up a story. If I read and learn about a specific topic, I can tell you about it, or write a brief summary about the topic.
I do not have many strengths in writing other than I can look at a sentence or paragraph and tell you if it’s worded correctly. I lack the ability to incorporate larger more distinguished words. I need to build my vocabulary. Another weakness, when I do write I seem to say the same thing several times in different ways throughout the passage.
Though my writing doesn’t go through a very thorough process, my mind does. When I am brainstorming my mind thinks of several possibilities to a solution and out ways those solutions quickly to narrow down the best one. I believe this is one reason I am the Facilitator for my department at work. My problem solving ability is very quick and vast. I am very good at looking at a machine, or car, or computer and seeing how it works. I can’t disassemble and reassemble just about anything. It is just a natural process for me to be able to figure things out.I believe that I think critically all the time, the problem is I need to be able to put my thoughts into words, and put those words on paper.
Through this course I hope to be able to communicate my thoughts more clearly. Learn more about the advance writing processes so in the future I will enjoy writing. I want to be able to describe my thoughts with a larger vocabulary and with more distinctive definitions. I hope to be able to get a topic for writing and easily be able to write a paper about it. I also want to be able to write without many errors. If it wasn’t for spell check id be lost.
I look forward to the future of this class and hope to end this class with an A, and be able to think more critically. Turn those thoughts into words and sound more intelligent when I speak, and finally be able to write like an intelligent professional in a corporate environment instead a High School student.
