There was a little girl of fourteen who called May Yi. She was a big fan of snow and skiing. Unfortunately, there were no snowy days in her hometown, which makes her very sad. She always felt unhappy in winter, because she only could visit the snowy days view online and feel happy with someone’s experience of skiing. She interested in snow and the had a desire to touch the snow. Hence, May Yi was led the Changbai Mountains by her parents, which are very cold and always snowy in winter. She wanted to touch the snow and had a happy experience of skiing.
When May Yi came to the Changbai Mountain, she saw the trees were covered with snow and the roof was covered with a thick layer of snow. She surveyed the beautiful snow scene when she came to the ski resort. Skiing holds on poles in May Yi’s hands, skis and shoes on May Yi’s feet. There were so heavy for a little girl of fourteen, but the joy in her heart kept her alive. She put on the ski shoes, she said, ‘walk up and down as if there are a thousand pounds of weight to lift me up.’ She picked up the pole and paddled slowly back and forth. Little by little, she moved her feet, which ‘weighed a thousand pounds’.
Of course, there were minor accidents and falls. After all, with her skis on, it was difficult for May Yi to stand up after falling. Again and again, the coach had to lift her out of the snow. She fell down many times in the snow, but she didn’t seem to feel any pain because it was so exciting for her. She was really happy and excited, for the reason that she hasn’t touched touching the snow before. May Yi did start skiin. It was a great experience for her.
May Yi repeated falls gave her a lot of skiing experience. For instance, she learned how to ski successfully on skis up the slope. She learned how to speed up skiing and brake. She said that ‘when I was practicing skiing uphill, I often fell down or my body was out of sync.’ Here she laughed and went on, ‘when I made my first ascent, I threw my poles aside in excitement, causing me to fall off the slope and leave a scar on my right arm.’ She told us that she tried to get up on her own after she fell, but the sharp blade on her ski cut her arm.
To be honest, it was a really bad experience for a little girl, leaving a long scar on her smooth arm that no one wanted. But she laughed again ‘I do not think it was a mistake, I even like the scar because it brings back so many good memories and I learned a lot of skills of skiing! If I have a chance I will go back to the mountain and try skiing again!’
