Why Abortion Should Be Illegal : Pro-life Abortion

Introduction: Abortion has been a major conflict in society. It puts a tremendous amount of pressure on women who are debating whether to change their lives dramatically by having a baby. Abortion terminates fetuses in the womb and that is what calls for such a controversial issue. Background: Society is split into two sides, pro-choice or pro-life. Thesis statement: Abortion should be illegal and morally wrong because a baby is a child from the moment of conception, which gives the baby the right to life that cannot be taken by anyone.

All humans have the right to life from the moment of conception. A breathing child has been formed in the womb at the time of conception and should not be harmed under any circumstances. All life is sacred from conception to natural death. All people, even if they are not born yet, should have a say in their life. A human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person, which is among the right to every innocent being to life. This very important right should never be infringed upon by others. Evidence & citing: An academic journal, “Embryos, Souls, and the Fourth Dimensions”, it states that human life must be respected and protected as soon as life is formed. The embryo must be defended and taken care of just like any human being. Commentary: The journal also states that human life is a gift from God. The soul created is immediately implemented by God. It is sacred from the moment of creation and involves God from the beginning to the end. It is a natural right that all people have the right to live and have an opportunity in life. Only God can determine when a person’s life ends. It is morally wrong to intentionally take away the right to life, especially of a breathing baby.

Women are not allowed to harm or take the life of an individual. Abortion is the immoral killing of a human being. Although the baby may not be born yet, it does not make it any less of a human. It is another way for murder. No individual is licensed to kill another. An innocent child should not be punished to death for nothing. Commentary: Women want to have abortions because they do not want to go through the emotional and physical struggle of having a baby. Although they are protecting themselves from the pain, they are also preventing life from being lived. Evidence & citing: According to MedlinePlus, it explains that in the womb a baby’s heart beats, just like everyone else’s on earth. Commentary: The babies can move around, make facial expressions, and hear everything that is going on around them. Children in the womb have already started developing before even the woman may know she is pregnant. Therefore, if a heart beats inside the womb, abortions stop a beating heart, which kills an alive and kicking baby. This is a kind of murder. It is severely wrong to kill a child, especially not having the right to do it.

Topic sentence: People who support abortion may say, abortion is acceptable in some cases such as rape, if the woman cannot raise or support a baby at that time or if she has limited support, however, the child could be given up for adoption from the moment of birth. Many women who support abortion try to justify it by explaining the specific circumstances that each woman may be experiencing that may lead them towards getting an abortion. These circumstances range from a variety of things. Some people may defend abortion in situations such as rape. They may think that the child was not conceived by choice so there is no reason to keep the baby. However, it is not the baby’s fault how it was conceived, what matters is that the baby is there and should get to live. Another circumstance in which people defend abortions is cases in which the mother cannot raise or fund a baby at that given time. Although they will have to carry the baby for nine months, they do not have to keep the baby after it is born. Women can spare nine months of their whole lives to spare a whole lifetime. Whatever that woman may be missing within that nine months will not place an extreme amount of damage to their life in the long run. Even though the woman may not want a child or be fully prepared to have one, there are plenty of women in this world that would love to have children, but unfortunately cannot. Commentary: Those women would gladly adopt a child to save them from being put to death no matter how they were conceived. The child could have a good family with loving and caring parents. Evidence & citing: As stated in the Encyclopedia of Women’s Health, there are over 100,000 adoptions in the United States each year. This is equivalent to two to five percent of American households. In 2002, sixty-four percent of Americans knew someone affected by adoption, a number that is only increasing. This shows how much adoption has been developing and becoming part of our culture’s norm. Another situation in that people may turn to abortion is when they feel like they are all by themselves and cannot make it through the pregnancy process without any or limited support. If women fear they are alone in this process, there are many organizations specifically geared to help them. According to The Health and Social Service Needs of Pregnant Women Who Consider But Do Not Have Abortions, there are a number of public health programs across many states that address the particular needs of pregnant women. The most common needs are food stamps, dental care, and housing assistance. The numerous different services take into account the specific needs of each individual. These programs help women through this whole process, allowing abortion not to be the best option in any circumstance. Adoption and public health programs give the unborn child the right to life by not taking the life of another and still giving them the chance to live.

Conclusion paragraph: Abortion is sincerely wrong due to the fact that from the moment of conception a living and breathing child has been made, that child has the right to life, and people do not have the power to take a person’s life away. Abortion allows people to end babies’ lives just so women have it easier. People should take in all possibilities when going through a time like this, so therefore women can decide to do the right thing. All life is worth value and should not be taken for granted.
