Ever since my childhood, I see my father suffering from diabetes, taking a lot of medicine, and bearing with pain of injections every day. I always wanted to have a less painful treatment plan for him so that he could be cured. During my early study in medical science, it became clear to me that a well-balanced and healthy diet can help with diminishing the symptoms of diseases or even eradicating it completely if implemented early. This was the catalyst for my decision to study dietetics at the graduation degree level, so that I may gain the knowledge and practical experience to become a dietitian. The question 'why do you want to be a dietitian' has a personal answer for me - I want to be able to contribute to the field of nutrition and use my expertise to promote healthy living and advise patients, helping them achieve a better life. During my graduation, one day my father suddenly collapsed, on taking him to the hospital we found out that he is now suffering from kidney impairment as well and had to go for dialysis. Along with all his medical treatment, I continued to make helpful dietary changes for him so that I could prevent his symptoms from getting worse. My quest about nutrition leads me to decide on doing further study in food and nutrition.
To prepare myself for the day-to-day reality of hospital work I have also been shadowing dietitians at Mian Muhammad Trust Hospital Faisalabad, observing how they deal so compassionately with parents and their children suffering from diet-related health problems and learning different diseases and their diet management and learning about event management like nutrition camping and awareness walk. Furthermore, I practiced as an intern in DHQ Hospital Toba Tek Singh, while doing my internship here I worked hard to convince patients how diet modification can help them to improve their quality of life. During my internship, I discovered some ideas for promoting healthy eating and diets to different people with different dietary management. I practiced a lot, which has considerably enhanced my imagination and creativity in my active thinking as well as analytical and problem-solving abilities. They have allowed me to gain an insightful understanding of Nutrition and encourage me to research furthermore in the future.
I selected your university because of its background of providing students with great opportunities for scientific research and contributing to the world with the latest technology. As Myongji University has been a center for practical humanism and is operating different practical globalization programs. This university is an accurate place for me to continue my journey in the field of food and nutrition. I highly intend to join this prestigious university where I can learn and flourish my knowledge so that I can become able enough to give my positive input in society. The academic environment in South Korea is highly competitive and also provides a wide range of employment opportunities. Korean culture is profoundly influenced by Confucian principles and this pervades not only personal lives but also business.
In conclusion, my goal is to evolve as a researcher and to improve my practical skills and knowledge through the latest advancements in the field of food and nutrition. And I will be able to continue this cycle of sharing knowledge as it is said: “knowledge develops by sharing”.
