Nursing is referred to as the heart of the medical profession because of its importance and I want to be a part of it. Nurses are involved in a patient's total care from the beginning and have a one on one patient contact and complete care of the patient. In nursing I see a purposeful and rewarding profession yet what I love most is helping in the making peoples quality of life better and complete continuity of care. Adult Nursing will allow me to develop my interest in compassionate patient care with the curiosity of the human body. My motivation for adult nursing was first set in motion with my interest in physical health and interest in academia of human biology. Furthermore, my experience within health care environments has aided this. Caring for the adult sector has many different dimensions, there is a key sense of vulnerability when caring for these individuals and therefore having the ability to nurture and care for these patients is an absolute privilege. Adult nursing embodies all the traits I want to continue to nurture within myself, caring for people during difficult times and being part of a trusted profession.

As a adult nurse I want to continue my interest in human science and the human body whilst providing the best patient care for our service users. Moreover, I also enjoy the public health surrounding this degree and as an adult nurse I want to drive changes and care of the community and as well as a patient in general. Having the ability to be that firsthand care giver can make a difference with the patient's wellbeing which I believe is an incredible feeling of professional atisfaction

I completed a placement at a local EMI nursing home for a prolonged period. This was a valuable insight into a health care environment and the roles of a nurse. It was one of the most interesting and captivating experiences of my life. I gained very important insight whilst completing this placement. I was able to talk and communicate with service users. Some of which was hard as some patients were on end of life care and I had the opportunity to sit with them and communicate as much as I was able to It has shown me the reality of healthcare. I was able to develop my communication skills and I also learnt the importance of communicating with the importance of empathy with the level of professionalism attached. I learnt the importance of health care professionals especially the roles of nurses during this time. Communication is very important with the role of a nurse and Is also part of the 6Cs and I believe I have developed on this in a great amount.

I understand the harsh realities of nursing, but I am more than motivated for this career and how much motivated I am to study this. I am an individual that wants to study this at degree level but are more than committed to be a well-rounded student flourishing with academics as well as the clinical practice placements.

I also had the opportunity to participate within a multi-disciplinary team meeting. I was able to communication and take part whilst the health care professionals took part within a patient care planning, that involved different health care professionals, from nurses, Doctors, CPN, Social Services and Psychiatric Team they were all there. This was very important and I was lucky to have the opportunity to sit in and I learnt the importance of all these professionals coming together and working in unison which also showcased the importance holistic care that multi-disciplinary team provides. I became more interested and enjoyed being able to participate within the meeting highlighting the importance of teamwork within heath care.

I was constantly inspired of the lengths that the nursing staff at the setting go to make sure that patient care and patient needs are met. During the placement, I was aware of the behaviors of a service users due to my experience as time went on. I believe I was able to develop skills of integrity and my sense of insight these are very important skills as nurses must have. An example of this, was when I was interacting with service users from being on my Health and Social care course, I was able to have a beginning insight into the routine at the setting from learning important topics such as dementia, safeguarding. I was able to see theory into practice effectively. In terms of insight I saw core principles of nursing care and gained a clear understanding of the clear conduct and what is expected as the role of a nurse. I was able to develop my sense of insight by developing my level of understanding linked to empathy around patients and taking a step back and seeing the bigger picture.

I also know that I deal well with high pressured situations and situations that require high resilience. An example, of this includes whilst in placement dealing with a patient where they are getting agitated and troubled. I know what to do and how deescalate the situation calmly putting the patients' needs first in a safe and well-mannered way. Here I learnt the importance of de-escalation and engaging in the most effective way with the patient. I am confident that I work autonomously and use initiative in situation I may be on my own. The staff commented on my maturity and compassion as well as being able to empathize always. These are key skills a nurse must occupy, and I believe the key skills and qualities I possess will help me to study and become a competent registered Adult Nurse. I was also able to future my leadership skills, which Is also a very important quality that a nurse must have. An example of this as that I able to complete activities with all the patients without the aid of the activity coordinator which she trusted me completely. I felt I took charge, and I was confident to complete many activities with the residents. From this I was able to learn why leadership is so important. Nurses that are leaders can make a key difference in patient care.

I have awareness of the NMC Code and the vision for the training of future nurses and I believe by following this carefully it can support the delivery of high-quality person-centered care when practicing always.

During the Covid 19 pandemic. I wanted to continue developing my skills and had the desire to help my community in any way I can. Therefore, I was able to volunteer at a local charity shop. Here I was able to develop my people skills and I was able develop as a person. I really enjoyed this role and helping. I was able to help with maintain shop appearance and help organize donations. I really felt the sense of a community coming together whilst volunteering there, and how everyone come together during this difficult period. This related to the role of a nurse as they are a big role in the part of healthcare and the backbone of the industry in my opinion. I was able to develop my interpersonal skills whilst working with other volunteers well. This also directly links to the skills of ta nurse that interpersonal skills accompany, such as patients and emotional stability. I was further able to develop my teamwork skills thoroughly whilst working with other individuals.

During this time also, I was also able to develop my virtual understanding of this amazing profession. I took part within an online course called “Introduction to Nursing”. It underpinned all the relevant knowledge I require at this level to strengthen my decision to go into this profession, from this, it gave me more of an amazing impression in what nurse don and the importance of them in society. I especially enjoyed the section of the bioscience applied to nursing section looking at basic physiological management. It looked at the application of assessment of vital signs and evidence-based practice. In order to further my virtual understanding, I am a fond watcher of the show “The Hospital”. It develops my virtual understanding of the healthcare industry. It’s a very mush passionate but a troubling insight into the harsh realities the NHS faces. It looked as the NHS in a wider context and follows staff at that trust that do their incredible job. I believe it showcases, the NHS Core Values well.

In terms of future experience I will be gaining, is that I will be volunteering at my local hospital as part of the NHS Befriending service, I have completed all steps required for this and look forward to starting this when safe to do so. I will be contributing to the wellbeing of patients and helping with feelings of isolation and loneliness. This also links directly to another NHS volunteer scheme I will be taking part in which is Patient Proms NHS Initiative. It is all about volunteering to helping the health care professionals in making a diagnosis and being part of that very first initial stage of their treatment as soon as they enter the hospital. I will be helping in the area where the patients fill in a questionnaire whereby, they can judge how they feel. These volunteering experiences allows me to gain key clinical experience. Here I can further develop my key essential skills a nurse must occupy.

By completing this at it I will be qualified but I have many aspirations following the degree and become even more qualified by working myself up the nursing bands, by taking on more responsibility my aim is to specialize in intensive care. I am aware that the degree is 50% theory and 50% practical in terms of teaching. This is something I am really looking forward to as I can see theory into practice which is very effective. Some of the modules I am excited for include Anatomy and Physiology, I can develop into my interest of the human body and how to care for a patient in need.
