In nursing I see a purposeful and rewarding profession yet what I love most is helping in the making peoples quality of life better and complete continuity of care. Adult Nursing will allow me to develop my interest in compassionate patient care with the curiosity of the human body. My motivation for adult nursing was first set in motion with my interest in physical health and interest in academia of human biology. Furthermore, my experience within health care environments has aided this. Caring for the adult sector has many different dimensions, there is a key sense of vulnerability when caring for these individuals and therefore having the ability to nurture and care for these patients is an absolute privilege. Adult nursing embodies all the traits I want to continue to nurture within myself, caring for people during difficult times and being part of a trusted profession.
As a adult nurse I want to continue my interest in human science and the human body whilst providing the best patient care for our service users. Moreover, I also enjoy the public health surrounding this degree and as an adult nurse I want to drive changes and care of the community and as well as a patient in general. Having the ability to be that firsthand care giver can make a difference with the patient's wellbeing which I believe is an incredible feeling of professional atisfaction
I completed a placement at a local EMI nursing home for a prolonged period. This was a valuable insight into a health care environment and the roles of a nurse. It was one of the most interesting and captivating experiences of my life. I gained very important insight whilst completing this placement. I was able to talk and communicate with service users. Some of which was hard as some patients were on end of life care and I had the opportunity to sit with them and communicate as much as I was able to It has shown me the reality of healthcare. I was able to develop my communication skills and I also learnt the importance of communicating with the importance of empathy with the level of professionalism attached. I learnt the importance of health care professionals especially the roles of nurses during this time. Communication is very important with the role of a nurse and Is also part of the 6Cs and I believe I have developed on this in a great amount.
I understand the harsh realities of nursing, but I am more than motivated for this career and how much motivated I am to study this. I am an individual that wants to study this at degree level but are more than committed to be a well-rounded student flourishing with academics as well as the clinical practice placements.
I also had the opportunity to participate within a multi-disciplinary team meeting. I was able to communication and take part whilst the health care professionals took part within a patient care planning, that involved different health care professionals, from nurses, Doctors, CPN, Social Services and Psychiatric Team they were all there. This was very important and I was lucky to have the opportunity to sit in and I learnt the importance of all these professionals coming together and working in unison which also showcased the importance holistic care that multi-disciplinary team provides. I became more interested and enjoyed being able to participate within the meeting highlighting the importance of teamwork within heath care.
I was constantly inspired of the lengths that the nursing staff at the setting go to make sure that patient care and patient needs are met. During the placement, I was aware of the behaviors of a service users due to my experience as time went on. An example, of this includes whilst in placement dealing with a patient where they are getting agitated and troubled. I know what to do and how deescalate the situation calmly putting the patients' needs first in a safe and well-mannered way. It develops my virtual understanding of the healthcare industry. It’s a very mush passionate but a troubling insight into the harsh realities the NHS faces. It looked as the NHS in a wider context and follows staff at that trust that do their incredible job. I believe it showcases, the NHS Core Values well.
