Will Artificial Intelligence Have a Progressive Or Retrogressive Impact on Our Society

Introduction: AI being the future of our human race has created a big impact on the minds of humans with some of the thinking it is dangerous and that they have the capability to wipe out our entire civilization, while on the other hand there are a certain amount of people who feel that the making of AI would simply be another progress in the advancement of human tech, rather than being the cause of the extinction of humans.

Personal response; Personally I feel that the making of artificial intelligence having its pro’s and con’s is more on the better side of views, as in I feel that the human like machines would help in marking yet another progress in the development of human technology, rather being the cause of our destruction. My main motive to support the making of these machine was due to the advantages that follow, as in making of AI not only marks a progress in the development of human tech but also improves the way we live as in the luxuries and advantage that arrive with these extremely smart human like creations is never ending list.

Causes: one of the main causes for this doubt to arise due to the things our ancestors have said and also many great people speaking about how AI would gain self-consciousness and start to overthrow humans and strip them of their dignity. Whereas AI in the mind of many people worldwide has created a sense of hope that this might be the beginning of a new era in human technology, and another step towards leading a comfortable life.

Comparisons

MEDC

A more developed country would help in providing more support for the creation of AI as the people over here are more educated and well versed with the advantages that arrive with the making of AI. The people in a MEDC would not only support the cause for the making of AI but would also with the growing trend of Hollywood movies having an impact on the minds of people, has prompted people to turn their backs on AI and question the process as to whether this would be the beginning of a new era or would it be the end of our human civilization.

LEDC

A LEDC country not having that high of a literacy rate and modern architecture as an MEDC would rather go against the making of these automated machines as aware of our growth in technology and the problems we have caused to the environment these people would be under the mindset that more development in the field of AI would only cause a more panic outburst among the people of a LEDC as they believe this would destroy us once and for all. Whereas the educated people in this place who have a further insight into the making of these automatic creatures, would rather sideline with their people as a proof of how much damage an AI can cause was shown in world war 2 when fighter jets used heat sensing missiles which is a form of AI to destroy enemy jets during the war, which resulted in several casualties.

PERSONAL RESPONSE-

Personally as a citizen of a MEDC I feel that the making of AI shouldn’t stop as these automated machines not only show behavioral properties of human but can also help us in easing the work load of our daily lives. Whereas for the people of a LEDC who are in need of tremendous improvement to survive the fast modernizing world are in desperate need of the support of AI as with so much work to do they cannot carry all the load on their back and should be assisted with AI to ease their workload, but due to the rising fear of AI in many of the LEDC’s present worldwide it would be difficult to condemn them into supporting the making of AI. So the government of those nations have started taking certain measures of which would be spoken of on the next slide.

CURRENT MEASURES

Well currently the world of science is trying to prove to the people that the making of artificial intelligence would not destroy humans but would rather provide us an insight into quantum mechanics and lead to the biggest progress in human tech. To prove this to people a Hong Kong based company known as Hanson robotics has created a humanoid known as Sophia to show the world how robots are not harmful creatures until toyed with and can be very useful in making the world a better place, as quoted in Sophia’s speech in future investment initiative held, in Riyadh, for which she was granted a citizenship in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. But certain people still believe that this would do no good for us humans and with the ongoing problem of people losing their jobs due to everything being automated, has only added more misery for the people who still believe that AI is a large threat to our modern society.

Personal response:

Personally I feel that the making of AI should continue as human cannot do everything by themselves and the needs for slavery can be compromised as these robots would have to serve releasing all the 30 million slaves from their mishap, and this would help people to educate themselves to get a decent job in our fast growing economy. Although these automated machines can ruin jobs for people like drivers as due to our rising economy and the making of self-driving cars might leave the driver with no job but is left to beg the lord for his survival as he has no money to protect himself with.

As the survey above has shown most of the people feel that AI would be better for the future of our human race, and the few who felt it was a danger had commented on the science fiction movies and the mindset that our ancestors had left for us regarding the dangers of the making of AI. One of them had also commented on the heat sensing missile which is a form of AI, which had caused a lot of destruction, provoking fear in the minds of people who feel AI is good and provide more support for the people who feel the making of AI is wrong and can be dangerous for humanity.

POSSIBLE SCENARIOS:

1) If the making of AI continues and reaches the next level then the levels of comfort that can be achieved is endless. AI being the future of our generation would help in easing the workload as everything would be automated, and humans can take a break from their hectic work life. But due to everything being automated many jobs will be lost as the machines would take over and leave these people who are now jobless without any income for their survival and would leave them on the streets as these people are not well versed in the field of quantum mechanics which is the future education of our generation.

OUTCOMES

Well one major outcome of this kind of scenario is that due to the dangers that AI possesses to the jobs of millions worldwide there would be a vote against AI and this would in turn lead to the ultimate demolition of man’s greatest work of all time, would not only prove the amount of time we have wasted but also the dangers that the making of these humanoids have caused are endless

POSSIBLE SCENARIOS

2) As spoken in the previous slide regarding how AI could be both beneficial to humans and at the same time also dangerous. In this scenario the thing we will be speaking about is the possibility of robots gaining self-conscious and start to take revenge on humans and take over the world as portrayed by science fiction movies. AI being very smart creatures are programed to serve us humans, but the fear of them gaining self-conscious has always been looming as a large threat among a few quantum mechanics worldwide and also among several people worldwide who still believe that the making of AI would bring us no good, but would only bring about destruction around the planet.

OUTCOMES

Well in the above scenario the outcome can be well thought of as, if these humanoids gain a conscious of their own it would lead to utter destruction to every single person or animal living on this beautiful planet of ours. This is because when humanoids finally realize we were using them for our daily purpose they would reunite to bring out their wrath on us fellow humans and take control of this planet which we call our home, and shred us to pieces, leaving every single living species planet extinct. This is one of the major reason why critics fear the making of AI.

In Singapore the government has taken many initiatives to motivate people into thinking that AI is good for them and can be a real beneficial source to the nations booming economy. AI could not only help for the country but can also serve the people as these automated creatures can help to reduce the work load that have been implied upon us humans since the dawn of time. The nation regularly holds tech fests to prove to people how technology could help them in their daily lives. Regardless of the nation’s futile attempts to promote AI critics have given the mindset to the people that AI would not only be dangerous but would result in the loss of the jobs of millions of people worldwide.

NATIONAL-

Singapore as a nation has thrived to prove to the people that AI are not harmful, but are just automated versions of us humans. AI does not only look like us but also show similar characteristics. The republic of Singapore has tried every possible alternative to support the making of AI, and the prime minister of Singapore has started a new initiative known as smart nation, which is to help promote AI and are funding a huge amount rounding up to about 100 million Singapore dollars. This is one of the biggest initiative taken up by Singapore to promote AI.

GLOBAL-

The world transforming into a digital era has proven to be one of the greatest development in mankind history. The significant changes that AI has brought about with having many people who are for and against the making of AI. The globe as a whole combined with several governments have started to design their own form of AI to show the people that they are nothing but automated versions of us humans. Countries such as America, china and japan are on the race for a smart nation and were recently joined by India who on the 28th of March had created a robot known as mithra and was tested by the PM himself, and showed possible results. Like mithra another robot known as Sophia was introduced to the world and was the first humanoid to be granted citizenship in the KSA and in her speech had quoted on how she hopes humans and robots can work together and can bring about a change to our world. This is one of the greatest steps mankind has ever taken to prove AI is good for all of us humans
