Will Distance Learning Ever Replace On-campus 

Distance learning means providing education and lectures via the Internet. instead of attending the classes on campus. However, Due to the third National lockdown of the spread of Covid 19, which has changed the academic year, Universities and schools moved classes online. Because of this crisis many universities, and schools are considering hybrid models with remote classes and in-person classes. There are also many universities, and colleges, that have already been successful transitions, such as The Imperial College London, which has offered courses on the science of coronavirus, which is now the most enrolled class launched in 2020. Undoubtedly, formal education in-campus will never be replaced because the campus units support online education. However, distance education could be work alongside with traditional education on-campus. In this essay, I will discuss the advantages, and disadvantages, compared between distance learning vs on-campus education and present this point of the view for the benefit of the readers.

As a traditional teaching method, online learning also has a positive and negative impact. However, the advantages of that are efficient as online learning has several tools such as chat groups, videos, podcasts, voting, and document sharing. Also, online learning allows students to attend the classes from home and other advantages, lectures could be recorded so students can be able to access to review the previous lectures at any time. However, this is particularly advantageous for online distance learning, as students in these programs tend to be older adults with obligations and responsibilities associated with jobs and families when compared to students in traditional face-to-face classrooms

Also, some students find it hard to be successful during this pandemic, and impossible to attend classes, so this can be benefited from online learning.

Additionally, the prisoners could be referred to the study online. Or might be reformed by using different types of education online, joining universities and colleges via online classes instead of attending classes on-campus.

Even Disabled students, older students, workers, and students who live away from college, who are not able to attend local classes for several reasons, such as being hugely expensive, disability, and general responsibility. However, distance learning could be more comfortable, and cheaper than attending traditional classes and this could be the way to find online learning as the best option to achieve degrees.

Willis (n.d.) noted that in order to address the challenge of providing more educational opportunities without the financial burden, institutions should develop distance education programs. Furthermore, these types of programs can provide adults with another opportunity to earn a college education or those who failed to finish school due to time constraints and disabilities and provide means for employees to refresh their knowledge. 

The opposite side of distance learning could cause social isolation, some students, who spend much time on distance learning, could be facing a sign of social isolation, and less of communication usually leads to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
