One of those is his work, “The Canterbury Tales”, which is not totally finished since he died during its completion. In this work, he created a frame narrative through his poetry. The outside story is about the group’s pilgrimage to Canterbury to pay homage to Thomas Becket. While, the inside story is the compilation of short stories about different travelers. Third, Geoffrey Chaucer was able to illustrate us the life in his age using his experiences for all levels of society which they can relate themselves. From the plowman (which are respected during his time for contributing to public’s food supply, but not regarded as wealthy or high class in the society) up to the knights (the highest-ranking traveler). Only few writers had been able to create this kind of masterpiece, and it took many years before Shakespeare came along and to be able to represent successfully all the members of the society while being entertained in a direct and honest manner.
