Studying in Japan looms large in my mind, chiefly because of its unique education system. Since the completion of my graduation, an unquenchable thirst of going abroad for the study has been nourishing in my heart and mind. Luckily, the recent announcement of Gilman Scholarship, officially known as the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program has provided me an opportunity to quench this thirst and ran a thrill of happiness and hope in my heart. Hence, this worldly recognized scholarship is no less than a boon for me to make my dream come true. Japan is such a glorious country not just because of its technology, development, and disciplined life, but also because of its unparalleled system of education. I believe that my financial hardship will be solved with the help of this scholarship, as examples it can support me in pursuing international study in the Japan or give another internship opportunities. So, going for study to such an amazing land by availing such a standard scholarship is what I can dream of.
As the Gilman Scholarship aims to diversify the students who study and intern abroad and promote cultural exchange and understanding I believe that with this scholarship I will be able to study in Japan. Also it provides financial assistance to students to cover the costs associated with their international education, including tuition, room and board, books, local transportation, and international airfare.
I think, any country reaches the height of glory or in other case remains behind, due to its education system. The system of education defines a nation’s fate. Therefore, I am in no doubt that it is the Japanese system of education that up-lifted them. Studying the Japanese system of education is my curiosity. I believe, we can have plethora of good experiences from their education system and can share our system of education with them. In this way, we both can better understand each other’s education system, which will ultimately benefit both of us.
However, my plan is to conduct research in either of these two fields of education: Teacher Education or in School Management. Teacher Education comprehensively covers all the issues relating to pedagogy and classroom. My entire focus remains on classroom teaching because classroom is a basic unit in the profession of teaching. A classroom is a place where a teacher exhibits his or her knowledge and professional expertise to make the study material easy, interesting, and understandable for the students. Learning and understanding different aspects of classroom teaching occupies a key place in the field of “ Teacher Education “. Considering this, I chose this field for the study in the US, and also looking forward to study the same in Japan. Particularly, finding the similarities and the differences in American & Japanese system of classroom management and classroom teaching will provide better insight of each other’s educational system to the both.
On the other hand, I put School Administration as a second option to study in Japan. From maintaining school discipline to ensuring quality education; school administration covers every aspect, that either plays a negative or a positive role in running a school. While, thorough understanding of “School Administration” is the most essential part of study, in the field of Education. So, I would love to closely see how the Japanese run their schools and what makes their schools different from that of American schooling system.
In the end, I pay my best to take this awesome Gilman scholarship. I am very excited to avail this dream opportunity soon.
