The first time I came to America, we came to Austin. Except my dad, non of us knew any English. “Gracy Farms” was our first apartment in Austin. My first Turkish friend was Aysegul. The first time I saw her, I was so happy that I found a Turkish friend that is same age as me, and going to same school as me. Then I also learned that she was living in our apartment, which made me so happy. I didn’t knew any English, but she knew, that it was because she came to US before I did, and also lived more than I did, which was actually helpful for me. She was helping me in any kind of things that I was having trouble with. She was my real best friend, which I loved her so much…
The school was actually not that hard for me, except having hard time talking with my friends. The school was a little easy for me because, since I didn’t knew any English, my dad was doing my homework’s and stuff, so it was basically fun for me. But every year I learned more and more English which made my English better. And I had to work more, and this time, I was doing my homework’s.
We stayed in Austin two years, than we moved to Houston, because of my dad’s work place changed. For me it was actually okay, because Houston was bigger, and there were much more Turkish friends, that were in my age. The possibilities, opportunities, was much better, and much more in Houston. Every year it was getting harder for me, because I to work harder, and so because of that we had less time playing with friends, which was normal, but we were so sad about it.
After we lived four years in Houston, we finally moved to Arkansas. It’s fine for me, everything is good, but the only thing missing is my friends that I had live in Houston. I had lots of Turkish friends there, but sadly I don’t in here, but sometimes I actually thing that it’s okay, because seeing a different country, city, is better, and makes us know about other countries/city’s way of living, and other things. I also had times that I think it is fun to travel one place to another, because you get to see different countries, and cities. And I wish I could have more chance to see other countries, or cities that would be interesting.
