Issues of migration and immigration are high on any nation’s agenda but have particular concern in Europe, more so Germany and France. There are different immigrant policies in the two nations that determine the manner in which immigrants are treated. With the movement towards common European Union policies, the immigrant politics of France and Germany have been a center of interest as there are changes that have changed the dynamics if immigration in Central and Eastern Europe. Both Germany and France encounter a riding wave of public discontent over immigration because of the latest terrorist attacks in the two countries. The politics of immigration can be contrasted based on the national policies of each country and the election campaigns in each nation (Bryant).
Germany is known to be the second largest nation of immigration in the whole world after the United States. The rapid rate of increase in immigration in the country has led to crisis after crisis in the country as Islamic extremists get into the country illegally to carry out terror attacks. In France, it is also perceived that immigration has risen steadily because of the demand for labor. However, it is likely that the government of Germany has been more successful in combating illegal immigration that Germany. Germany cannot deport the immigrants because of the policies of the European Union that stand for the protection of human rights.
In France, their silence on the issue has also led to an increase in the number of immigrants with no easy solution. Germany being a key player in the European Union has been facing major challenges in dealing with the issue of immigration in the nation, unlike France that is silent on the issue of concern. Germany just needs slight twist in the EU human rights policies to save the country from excessive immigration (Bohlen).
