When asked to select an entrepreneur I admire, I didn't even have to think twice about whom I would write about. Instantly, one name popped into my mind: Ana Parzych, the owner of a luxurious wedding cake business known as Ana Parzych Cakes. Ana’s cakes are renowned for their realistic-looking sugar flowers and intricate piping. Now let me tell you a little about who Ana is, what she does, and why I admire her.
To start off, Ana Parzych lives in Cheshire, Connecticut with her husband and three children. She studied painting and graphic design at the National School of Fine Arts in Lima, Peru. Ana then moved to the United States and honed her baking skills at The Culinary Institute of America, where she mastered the basics of designing wedding cakes, creating sugar flowers, and other decorating techniques. In 2006, Ana Parzych opened her first studio in Cheshire, CT and has since become one of the top wedding cake designers in the United States. She runs the business alongside her husband, daughter, and a few staff members.
Ana Parzych initiates her relationship with clients through a personal cake consultation and tasting. During these consultations, Ana provides a variety of cakes and fillings to sample while showcasing different cake displays that exhibit various techniques and styles. Using insights gained from these consultations, she sketches several designs based on the client's vision. I admire Ana because I have had the pleasure of working under her since 2016. Observing firsthand how she runs her business has inspired me to aspire to have a similar establishment one day. Ana handles all designs and finances; meanwhile, her husband bakes all the cakes along with preparing the fillings; her daughter and I are responsible for creating sugar flowers and molds. It is truly inspiring to witness all elements coming together seamlessly within such a short timeframe. Her relentless dedication is evident in every masterpiece she creates as well as in watching her business grow each year (Smith & Johnson, 2020).
