The Boer War fought between Great Britain and the two Boer republics—the South African Republic and the Orange Free State, it was the culmination of long-standing tensions in southern Africa. It was one of the largest and most expensive war in which the British was engaged. British military reached nearly 500,000 men, whereas the Boers had about 88,000. Also, the war had three phases.
The total cost of the war for Britain was £211,156,000. Nearly 100,000 human lives were lost. The war produced heights of national enthusiasm on both sides. There was a huge impact of the war on Africa’s Black peoples, who became involved in the war both as combatants and as victims of the armies.
