While watching The Breakfast Club, it was difficult to choose one character to compare myself to. I finally decided to choose Allison Reynolds, she is very quiet at the beginning and a little strange, but slowly as the movie goes on she becomes very vocal. She begins to become more friendly, as the movie goes on and as she learns more about the other classmates. Like Allison in high school I was a liar, thief, and outcast, but I also differed from her in the same respects.
In The Breakfast Club Allison did lied throughout the movie. I am very similar to Allison because I lied many times in high school, especially to my family and friends. The difference of Allison and I would have to be that I only told white lies for instance; “When you grow up, your heart dies.” That is something that I would not lie about, mine were like “I did my homework.” Another example would be when Allison stated that she, “did not have friends,” while trying to hide her true feelings. I would not lie to hide my feelings, I only lied about my feelings around my family because I felt unwanted. Alisson and I are very similar when it comes to being a liar, but we differ in many ways.
In The Breakfast Club Allison did steal from a group of students throughout the movie. Allison and I differ in theft, for example during the movie a fight broke out between Bender and Andy, Bender pulls out a knife and stabs it into a chair. Allison had reached over and snagged the knife from the chair. An example of Allison’s theft would be when she stole Andy’s wallet during the movie, or when she stole Bender’s lock while he was getting his marijuana out of his locker. My theft would be taking a pencil that I found on an empty desk. I would never steal someone’s wallet, or anything that has their personal information. Another example of my theft in high school would be when I stole someone’s food because I was hungry. Even when I did steal I always felt guilty and very terrible, and Allison seems to do it for her own personal amusement. Allison and I are Both considered thief’s but I believe that we have big differences also.
While I was watching The Breakfast Club I noticed that Allison and I were both outcast’s in high school. For example, when Allison was found by Andy she was crying over a pile of books, she told Andy that her parents made her feel like a outcast at home. Another example would be when Allison made her sugar cereal sandwich, taking a big bite Allison ignored the stares from fellow classmates. While I was in high school I was considered an outcast in high school because I was shy and I barely talked to anyone I did not know. I was also considered an outcast because of the friends I did have. Allison and I were both considered outcast in high school, but we did have different characteristics of an outcast.
It may have been difficult for me to choose a character in The Breakfast Club, but while writing this essay I have come to realize that Allison and I were very alike in high school. We were both shy at first, but we both warmed up eventually. We both had a very different perspective to people also. During the movie I have found many ways that we do compare, but also many ways that we differ. Like Allison, in high school I was a liar, thief, and an outcast, but I also differed from her in many respects.
