People who appear on media are entertainers – like YouTube vloggers and reality TV stars. YouTube vloggers or YouTubers are ordinary people who enjoy video logging or vlogging on YouTube and reality TV stars are unprofessional actors who star in their supposedly unscripted TV show. Despite sharing minor similarities, the differences between reality TV personalities and YouTubers are clear in terms of contract, content and popularity.
YouTubers are independent and self-sufficient as they launch their online careers from the scratch. They are typically not tied to contracts therefore they are not managed by other parties. Consequently, they have no source to generate wealth. Despite that, entrepreneurial YouTubers like Logan Paul, would take the initiative of selling merchandises that complements their channel online. Because their contents are uncopyrighted and protected by contract, YouTubers face a common risk of content plagiarism. Content wise, drafting video contents takes high effort as YouTubers have to come up with new intriguing ideas to compete for viewer’s attention. Nevertheless, these vloggers are very flexible in uploading their videos giving them the advantage to engage with netizens more often. Moving on to their popularity, a YouTuber’s popularity is measured by the number of channel subscribers and social media followers but everything heavily depends on their content quality.
On the other hand, reality TV show personalities are unprofessional actors that film their spontaneous everyday life in TV. They are contracted, which means that the show is managed by a certain management company. Reality TV stars have to strictly obey contract agreements in order to keep their show running nevertheless personalities are protected against plagiarism because their contents are copyrighted. Other than that, reality TV stars are obligated to follow a certain script to satisfy the producing company that they are tied to which means it takes low effort because everything is already planned and episode releases are fixed. What a good life! Plus, they typically reach stardom faster than YouTubers this is because their shows interests all age groups all around the world. But, it is difficult for them to have privacy and live a normal life off-camera. Like, who does not know the Kardashians?
In reality, sacrifices must be made to achieve a certain goal may it be YouTube vlogging or starring in a reality show because nothing comes easy. Some people take months and even years to attain success therefore have perseverance. Remember, hard work pays off!
