There are two main types of food in Costa Rica. A traditional Cuisine is one of the main types found in Costa Rica and it is the most common, it is known as comida tipica and the second main type that is found in Costa Rica is the International cuisine.
A lot of other cities in the country have restaurants with a great amount of different international foods. The restaurants that provide a variety of international food offer different types of food for every foreigner that visits the country. Costa Rican food can sometimes be really greasy and have a lot of fat on it, since they use a lot of spices. A Costa Rican breakfast usually has two main ingredients in common with what is cooked for lunch and dinner. Those two main ingredients are rice and black beans. The most common breakfast in Costa Rica is Gallo Pinto.
It is a national dish and it is called the spotted rooster. The ingredients include fried rice, black beans, onions, red pepper, and cilantro. Gallo Pinto is usually served with eggs, bread with butter. Some other dishes they make for breakfast are toast, pancakes, or cereal. For lunch or dinner, the most common food they make is called a casado. Some of the ingredients for a Casado include different types of meat. A lot of Costa Ricans use beef, chicken, and or fish. As a side meal, they usually add many types of rice, black beans, and fried plantains. It can also be served with a fruit drink. Most food in Costa Rica can be served at breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The most common food is arroz con pollo or chicken and rice.
Arroz con pollo is a white rice dried with seasonings to make it become yellow and this meal is usually fried. Costa Ricans love to cook. They love to cook soup. The soup is based on beef broth, chunks of beef, and a lot of different vegetables. In Costa Rica, lunch is usually the “main meal” when everyone comes together and there are usually many different meals and courses on the table.
