Role models are those that can be good example to others. This is because of the strong lead character and charisma that a person displays. Role models whether they are figures of high authority, parents, siblings, or even peers can have either positive or negative impacts on one’s life. There is some point in life when every child desires to live up to the standards set upon by their role models. In the conquest to be more like one’s role model, we strive to outline our better qualities, we acknowledge our flaws and try to conceal them or we may even lose parts of ourselves in the course of trying to be someone we are not. Role models have an impact on one’s life as they can motivate one to be a better individual, cause one to lose one’s identity, and can have a negative influence on one’s character. I agree with this statement that role models have an impact on a person’s life. So how the role model can impact a person’s life?

Firstly, role models entice a person to work towards his or her goals. The role models here have provided people with a glimpse of their vision and by doing so, people can recognize, comprehend and relate to their role figure. Seeing their role models successfully confronting hardships will motivate people to endure difficulties and crises. Role models can embed the quote, “If I can do it, so can you” in one’s life. This shows that we must be brave enough to do something about a challenge and do not be afraid to fail in doing so. Further, do not be afraid to fail because successful people learn from failures in the past and rise to achieve success. For example, the life experiences of one’s role model will teach and educate us in the lessons of life which cannot be found anywhere else. Gandhi made a difference by liberating India. He believed in independence and freedom of speech. His beliefs were not shattered despite being subjected to numerous obstacles like being thrown into jail. He now serves as an inspiration to the liberal-minded who are not afraid to stand up for their rights. This shows that 'do not be afraid to show the truth because it will bring about superiority. In the future, we must trust ourselves when making decisions using common sense and facts so as not to be difficult in the future. This is because when using desires will cause harm in the future and cause problems.

Secondly, a role model can motivate people to do better to reach their goals. This is because good role models will motivate others by showing good behavior and how they manage to achieve success for many people to emulate. Therefore, the behavior of a good role model is that people manage to accept failures and do not blame others. For someone who is just learning, going up and up in an exam is normal. However, every failure they face in the slightest does not dampen their enthusiasm for success. They take that failure as a responsibility that they need to improve to move forward. This is because they believe that success will be achieved when working on failure. To show you what I mean, they will influence our actions and motivate us to find our true potential and overcome our weaknesses. This will lift our spirits to face challenges and not be afraid of failures that will be pursued in the future. So, it is very important to have a role model because it can push us to make the most of our life.

Furthermore, role models also can help a person to improve themself. Role models are a must for a person to have self-improvement. It is because we must have a guide to strive for self-improvement. Since role models’ attitudes and success will motivate us to achieve what our role models achieved. Other than that, a person will always want something more than usual. Pretend that, when we set someone to be a role model for us, we will follow their actions and footsteps to try to follow their guide but much better. Besides that, when we are in a situation to make a decision or choice, we will put our role models’ experience to help us to make the right decision. We should reconsider our choices before we make a decision. This can help us to make the right decision in an emergency. We will not regret our decision because we take all consideration and experiences from our role model. This attitude can help many people to improve themselves without degrading themselves. So, if the role model shows their good attitude as a guide, they will be a good lead to follow and improve ourselves This will cause people to challenge themselves to become successful people like their role model. A role model truly can help people to improve themselves if the person chooses a true role model to follow in their life. Therefore, it is very important to have the right role model in life so that it will shape you well as a human being and inspire you to discover who you are and to do your best to achieve success in life.

As they already faced a lot of challenges and problems in their life, they must have tips on how they overcome those things. However, having a role model also have disadvantage such as you can losing yourself. When you have a role model, you tend to try and be like them then you might end up losing yourself. The most important thing is to be yourself, never try to be someone else. You can learn lessons from successful people, but you have to stay on your own. You have to be proud of who you are and follow your passion. We can never become our role models until we find our real passion. Finding our true passion and working towards that is the most important factor that determines how we see ourselves as role models. Passion is fire and energy, finding something that ignites the flame within us and following it defines our success. As proof, we must take the good side of the role model and do not follow the bad side. It is very important to authentically carry yourself the way you are to gain the attention of others. As long as you truly believe in what you think, stand up for yourself, and at the same time treat people with respect and compassion. This mindset boosts your self-confidence and that’s when people will also look up to you. Ultimately, if we believe in ourselves and think that we can make others look up to us, then definitely we can become our role models. Just take lessons from the processes they go through, their positive character, and then make one in you according to the character you have. It is because even if you learn a lot from them, only you can determine the success of your own life.

In addition, the disadvantages of the role model also can make us blind. Having a role model can make you oblivious of the negatives in them. A role model’s negative characteristics or personality may influence someone to follow such a bad habit or behavior which will turn them into a bad person. This happens when a person becomes obsessed with their role model so they are not aware of the negative side of the role model and just follow it without knowing there might be bad things. For instance, if some people just follow all of their role model personalities or identity, they will not be able to find their personality and become a person who they are not. The negative figures can show you the truth of things you would like to change or do differently. Therefore, we need to have more than one role model so that we can pick up one aspect or good thing from one and have another good thing to admire and aspire for in another role model. Although if you looking for any role model then don’t just follow him or her blindly. People make decisions according to situations and priorities. Unless you know completely in which situation one took any decision you are not exactly learning anything from it.

Moreover, role models can be a bad influence on a person. This is because some role models are bad influences on us. Role models are also people like us, but they have done a good job in their life and have a good or bad attitude like normal people. The difference is that role models give us good or bad vibes to follow. It is up to us whether we follow the good or bad things of our role model. If we choose the wrong role model to follow in our life, we may become bad people with a bad mood and develop ugliness. Imagine, if you have a great rapper or a pop singer as your role model, you see the life they are living now. You see them partying, doing drugs, having lots of sex, and being popular and carefree with an idiotic attitude. Children tend to make that their role model, but do not know what struggles they had to reach that place or why they do what they do. Therefore, our lives become worse than before because we follow them even though our role model has a bad attitude. Sometimes we are too obsessed to follow what our role model is doing. This can destroy our future life and we become bad people. This is because we trust our role models too much and always want to try what our role models do, even though it may have bad effects on us. So we have many choices to make in our lives because it is our life and not other people's lives. We can choose which role model can make us better people. Be steadfast, role models can give us not only a good attitude but also a bad attitude without us realizing it.

To put it together, I think that you can follow what your heart decides if that role model is good for society and no matter what the people think about it because your body and your mind that going to control it. Role models can either benefit a person by serving as a source of inspiration or cause detrimental effects to a person. We can never adequately express the influence role models have on one’s life but what must be highlighted is that role models should always be positive ones. We need role models that remind us of what being a human means and just take the good side, do not take the bad side. Role models can also be from home that we follow. Today there are many people we can make our role models, but we just have to choose them properly. Last but not least, role models can benefit us more if we really use them without giving up. Learning should be a never-ending process.
