Effectiveness and Positive Impact of Online Classes on Students

Learning is usually considered as a normal and essential part of life. Choosing which type of learning you need can be a challenging process. Moreover, in the last few years, the education sector has suffered many changes, changes that in previous decades were unimaginable. No one could have predicted the revolution that this field would observe. Online classrooms are a modern way of learning, yet others still consider traditional classrooms as the best way to achieve knowledge. The impact of online classes on students is more beneficial rather than harmful. However in this essay we will analyse what specific pros students gain during online learning classes in comparison to traditional form of study. 

Those who believe online classrooms are an efficient way of education argue that, online education provides better facilities for learning such as PDFs, videos, podcasts, and teachers can use all such tools as part of their lesson plans. They believe that by expanding the lesson plan beyond conventional textbooks would facilitate teachers to become more effective educators. Whereas, the opposite point of view is that, one of the greatest challenges of online classrooms is the struggle to concentrate on the screen for long periods of time. Moreover, it is believed that with online learning there is also a greater chance for students to be easily distracted by social media or platforms.

Positive Impact of Online Classes on Students

Online education allows students to attend classes from any place of their choice. Institutes can reach a network of students, instead of being confined by geographical borders. On the other hand, the key challenge of online classes is internet connection. While internet has shown rapid progress over the past few years, in smaller cities and towns an internet connection with firm speed is still a problem. Without a stable internet connection for students or teachers, there can be a lack of consistency in learning for the student. This is damaging to the process of education.

Since online classes can be taken from home or location of choice, there are less chances of students missing their lessons. Many teachers and students believe that it is convenient to maintain their attendance during online classes. However, it is argued  that despite of attendance the presence of the students is missing. Teachers here believe that, as students are not physically in front of them, they are mostly sleeping or are busy doing other stuff.

Online classes throw less amount of and pressure on students which allows them to work and earn while they study. As online classes consume less time the rest of the time can help students gain financial support. This helps them become more practical and productive in their lives. But it is argued that, students in online classes are less attentive as they are engaged in different number of tasks. Online classes make students divert their minds towards numerous things and plans. Due to which they don't perform well in academics which ends-up delaying their qualification.

Lastly, it's important to mention that each student has a different learning path and a different learning style. The online learning system, with its variety of choices and facilities, can be individualized in many ways. It is the best way to create a perfect learning environment accordingly to the needs of each student. Although, not all majors can be taught online. The classes that include labs, clinical practice, or performances cannot be done without a traditional campus class. Having a traditional campus learning environment for these majors will provide access to equipment and materials which are normally not provided within an online class.
