Harriet Tubman helped slaves escape using the Underground Railroad. The first time Harriet Tubman tried to help a slave escape her head was smashed and suffered from blackouts for the rest of her life. From 1810 – 1850 over 100,000 slaves escaped. In the Northern states bordering the Ohio River, a reverse Underground Railroad sprang up. Jim was the first slave to escape. The Underground Railroad was not underground but was above ground the slaves ran in the night and in the day they would hide or sleep. More than 3,000 people helped slaves escape. Why a ton of slaves moved to Canada was because of the Fugitive slave act Over 1.5 million was voted for Harriet Tubman to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill Healthy slaves were sold for $1,000. In the 1500s many slaves tried to escape only a few made it Escape from the North to the South

Many slaves moved to Canada although of a slave were caught running away he or she would go to jail or be hung. Jim was the first slave to escape then Lucy Bagby was the last one to escape. A man named Peg Leg Joe told them a lot of songs. When a slave escaped from Kentucky to Ohio the owner blamed it on the underground railroad 15.000 thousand slaves were injured using the underground railroad 5,000 thousand slaves were injured using the underground railroad Newspapers were filled with rewards if you found a slave. In the 1700s the slave would be caught killed.

In conclusion this topic was very fun to learn about like how many slaves were able to escape. It was really interesting learning how Harriet Tubman risked her life 19 times. Then after all those trips she helped over 300 slaves escape.
