What do a hearty meal of broccoli and a plate of sprouts have in common? The low amount of potassium in it. When your kidneys overdo potassium, it can lead to fatal health risks and even death. It leads to hyperkalemia where a person exhibits a high level of potassium in his bloodstream. Less potassium keeps the blood pressure in check and hence reduces chances of kidney issues and heart attacks. Low potassium has also proven beneficial in preventing strokes, kidney issues, and osteoporosis. In fact, low potassium is known to calm nerves and steel muscles as well.

  1. 1. Fresh or frozen veggies
  2. The potassium content of fresh vegetables is low but make sure you do not add salt or sauce. You might steam it for the best benefits. Broccoli and sprouts have the least potassium and maximum nutrition. You must stay away from canned veggies.
