My Goal to Become an Adult Nurse

I am passionate about my continuous professional development and most eager to pursue a career in Adult Nursing. I am confident that this course will improve my existing skills and provide a life-changing fulfilling career and in additionally, I enjoy helping and caring for people. Becoming a nurse would allow me to fulfil this ambition. I believe that Adult Nursing is a fulfilling course that will help me in developing my career, it’s an experience of continuous learning and I really want to be a part it.

My desire is becoming a qualified registered nurse and building on the foundation of my career as a Mental Health Care Assistant. My initial interest and motivation for wanting to become a nurse and caring for people began at age eighteen when I unfortunately and sadly lost my mother, then immediately I took on the responsibility of taking care of my brothers and sisters. It was at this very early age that I realised that I wanted to pursue a career which involved caring and looking after people who were less fortunate than myself. Additionally, in 2000, I immigrated to Italy to pursue my career as an Assistant to Mental Health Care specialist.

My main responsibility was to improve the quality of life of the adults under my care; which includes helping them participate in activities and teaching them basic life skills. I enjoyed going to work each day because the job satisfaction gained from being a Health Care Assistant to Mental Patients was immense and very rewarding. I thoroughly enjoyed and gained enormous satisfaction from helping adults with their immediate needs such as washing, using the toilet, dressing and feeding.

I proceeded and apply for Access to Nursing programme with units such as health and social care level 3, Functional skills in Mathematics Level 2, Equality and Diversity within Healthcare and approaches to health which has help me improve more on my knowledge on care.

My previous experience is a demonstration of how my transferable skills are well-matched to a career as an Adult Nurse. Over fifteen years my skills, knowledge and experience has been rendering care to people that are mentally vulnerable and dealing with adults with varying degrees of psychological issues.

Adult Nursing is a career where there is a progressive training. As stated earlier, I am passionate about my continuous professional development and always learning is appealing to me. Adult Nursing is a highly demanding career that brings about new challenges daily and I am aware of the risk and responsibility, but it also comes with many rewards and desired satisfaction.

This course will help me gain additional skills, knowledge and valuable understanding. The Adult Nursing accreditation acquired will make an enormous difference in the lives of adults who are hospitalised and in need of professional care and attention.

Over the years, while working in the hospital I have gained various caring skills and health care settings. This has improved my communication and listening abilities and I interact with others effectively. Specifically, actively listening to the needs of adults in my care and ensuring that their needs are met.

My acquired skills will be an asset because of my maturity, caring and responsible personality. The occupation pathway from a mental health carer to Adult nursing is a natural transition for me and will lead to a successful career

Caring for my siblings and working with adults with varying degrees of illness has resulted in my decision to apply for this course. Adult Nursing is a very stretching and exciting career. I believe that the rewards will be great, fulfilling, satisfying and desired and with this I believe I am ready to begin on this career.

My goal is to become an Adult Nurse to do something purposeful with my life and to utilise all my best character which includes good communicating skills, active listener, empathetic, courageous, well organised, eager and passion to learning. Nursing is a profession I have always looked forward with great respect.
