I have a very curious personality and ever since I was a kid living in a remote village in Pakistan, I would stargaze every night, being amazed by the beauty of space. When I learned about Einstein theory of relativity and how time is relative, that is what really sparked my interest in further studying physics. I have an intrinsic motivation to study physics as I'm studying it purely as a desire and not towards a specific career path. Physics is a subject that can be applied to every field from engineering to theory’s about why the universe behaves in the way it does, which makes it such a fascinating subject. I also attended an astrophysics taster day at Queens Mary where I elevated my knowledge of celestial bodies and learned more about the formation of the universe such as how the universe was hot and full of expanding gas which is evident by the cosmic background radiation present today. Furthermore, reading “Astrophysics for people in a hurry” helped me to understand more about the universe as a whole, but also to learn more about strange phenomena’s like black holes, dark matter and even dark energy.

'Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned'?

We know that dark matter makes up 27% of the universe and dark energy makes 68%, all the visible matter we see in the universe makes up only 5% which is incredibly small. So even though we have observed so much in the universe it doesn’t even make up a fraction of the entire spectrum. I have developed problem solving skills in maths, this was evident when facing challenging calculus questions, and I overcame this task through using prior knowledge to be able to come to a successful answer. This was further demonstrated in my As Further Maths where I overcame difficult matrices questions. This will help me in my course because I have developed resilience and determination when facing new challenges. In Economics I developed on my critical thinking through working on case studies such as taxation on sugary food and analysing the potential costs and benefits. This skill will transfer to physics in university as this will enable best outcomes at university when writing scientific reports and dissertation in the future. I also enjoy reading about current affair7s in the financial market such as the current trade war between China and USA.

How a trade war between the two biggest economies is going to affect corporations all the way in Europe such as Volvo who are now finding it difficult to attract customers in china due to big tariffs. In physics I built on my practical skills for example measuring viscosity of a fluid. I was able to effectively plan, execute and report the practical, analysing the quantitative information I collected and examined any anomalous results. As this was a core practical I worked with my peers and effectively I began working for a fast food restaurant as a crew member and through my 7 months of part time work I have been promoted to a crew trainer and now responsible for training new employees, managing work stations and being liable for employees on the shift. This has given me the opportunity to demonstrate my great leadership skills and confidence. This will benefit me in my course because I will be able to take charge of in group projects and ensure the best outcome for us as a team. I also started trading Contract for difference and forex at the age of 15 and self-taught myself through reading books and watching webinars by successful traders. This quickly developed my analytical skills as I had to analyse markets and use technical indicators to forecast the price of stocks and currency exchanges.
