This Major Corporation based out of America has dedicated its time and money towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and has satisfied interests of stakeholders unlike a myriad of companies like Enron and Volkswagen etc. CSR is a main part of General Electric’s sustainability strategy.
General Electric (GE) has spent 10 years and countless of dollars towards cleaner and greener energy like wind and solar power, and state of the art technologies like lower emission aircraft engines and water purification technology. They call it Ecomagination, which focuses on the People, Planet and Economy. Along with this they have introduced, Healthymagination, a commitment to invest in the breakthrough that brings better health to more people, majority of which belong to poor countries. Their health programs are provided through a medical van which travels around the city of Chennai to people who do not have access to basic health. The company has carried its focus towards local community development which include constructing and assisting educational framework, correcting the facilities for little ones with disabilities, village expansion, and accelerating their work towards health services, hygiene, sanitation and electricity. In Vadodara they have an extensive program which provides necessary support like clean drinking water and infrastructure to the five villages of, Kotambi, Alamgarh, Machalipura, Bhavpura, and Ghovindpura. They have also modernized and enhanced their facilities at the milk collection center resulting in faster collection, and more purity.
Another part of their strategy involves providing large-scale training of women, entrusting them through ‘Self Help Groups (SHG)’, economic literacy and schemes training allowing them to become more independent. Apart from pitching in to help out in the rural countries, GE has launched a new citizenship site to advance stakeholder commitment and communication on concerns regarding human rights community work and joint governance. Now the company’s stakeholders have access to direct discussions of the company’s growth in areas such as, water, energy, climate, culturally and economically responsible lending and approachable health care.GE has also released new digital wind farms which provide even more fresh energy.
