Portraying Future Plans and Goals for Further Academic Studies

Passion brings out the best in us. I adhere to this as my life’s motto. Having said this, I would like to introduce my future plans and goals in this essay as someone who have always strived hard to understand my true calling and plan meticulously for my future based on it. Being elder son in a family of four, where both parents are working in private jobs, I have taken responsibility of all family chores even from a very early age and it has helped me in me during my college days to live independently on my own. All these Challenges never failed to excite me and contentment often came out of my ability to overcome these stumbling blocks. After completion of my undergraduate program in Chemical engineering, I have worked as a process engineer for over 3 years in various organisations in and out of my country.

My undergraduate program in chemical engineering have prepared me for the challenge of joining your university. As a student, I used to get involved in research works in labs, where I learned to develop new catalysts for production of Biodiesel using modern technique. I also signed for some extra credit classes, such as Unit Operations and Process Control Lab, which enhanced a great deal of laboratory experience. I also made sure than I am an ardent participant in many extracurricular activities, despite my busy class schedule. For example, I joined the Student parliament, where created a framework of new activities benefiting social cause, edited and compiled annual magazine, and interacted with students from different intuitions around the area for technological collaborations in project works. I strongly believe that in the being well rounded, and experience from extracurricular activities paved way for my better communication skills with leadership and interpersonal skills, which proved to be helped me down the lane when I started working.

With over 3 years’ experience as a process engineer, I have got chance to work in few prestigious industries in India and as well as United Arab Emirates. It’s been an eye opener for me as I was able to use my theoretical knowledge into practical use. I was able to work on many revamp and shutdown operations which laid foundation on understanding the basics of plant operations and maintenance works. I also got to work in the process department, I was introduced into world of computer software’s like Aspen, MATLAB etc. which helps an engineer to work on design and calculation in reducing wastage and increase plant economy. Through your program I wish to deepen my industrial oriental knowledge These jobs gave me an amazing edge and a great exposure both towards research and managing professional relations to accomplish the targets. I have been instrumental in managing various projects starting from scratch, to materializing it on the production line.

My interest to join your Masters course in chemical engineering is primarily due to the course structure which is really distinctive in comparison with other universities in UK comprising of modules for holistic development in almost every segment of technology including not only theoretical aspects but also practical approach. Moreover, the exposure of studying in an internationally reputed university with students coming from different parts of the world is altogether in a different level. University’s career support, like interview support, online webinars and career mentoring, along with the school’s Alumni careers networking opportunities, are also very appealing. As a student being able to study in such a prestigious institution is a pride in itself. I have confidence that by completing this course in this university will give me the required positive thrust towards my future. A greater and in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals and the phenomenon is crucial for further development of my career and research. As the whole industry moves towards greener technologies and more sustainable materials, it is vital for me to be updated with the latest methodologies and gain a stronger edge of the subject to introduce new technologies to the manufacturing lines.

Regarding my future plans, in the short-term I plan to understand the technological and theoretical knowledge from a western country. After completing my master’s degree and returning to India, I expect to work either in the energy industry or more conventional industries. Chemical engineers with cutting-edge skills are in high demand here, and after completing your program I am confident that I will be equipped with necessary knowledge to achieve success and make a lasting impact in my field of work.
