Racism was an ideology originated by European scientists in the 17th century during the Atlantic slave trade, creating it for the sole purpose of differentiating themselves from those of darker skin tones and features, which also developed racial hierarchy, that is still prevalent to this day. The history of racism is undeniably one of white supremacy as the label âwhiteâoften referred as a representation of superiority. Peopleâs ignorance and negligence (primarily Caucasian counterparts) of the variety of cultures, races and ethnicities has caused this country that we call âthe greatest country in the worldâ or âthe land of the freeâ great distress.
Egotistical, narcissistic and selfish bigots manipulate their privileges to demean and dehumanize people of color as well as those who are open advocates of people of color (non-white people). Black people are among the most disrespected and the least protected in the world. It has been shown that people with âblack-soundingâ or ghetto names, were less than likely to be called back to reviewing job interviews, black people are also incarcerated nearly six times the rate of white people and if current trends continue, one in three black males born in this generation will be expected to spend time in prison throughout their lifetime. These shameful, repugnant people oppress the black community, hanging their futures above their heads like a cat to a string, expecting them to jump at the chance and bow down to their polished boots like ravenous animals. Skin tone has become a systematic method to deteriorate the bonds between each race. Lighter skinned men and women intimidating darker skinned men and women, molding a sense of insecurity in them. Making them feel lesser of a human being to their own race of people. Darker skinned men and women commit the same crime, by turning their noses down at women and men of lighter complexion claiming that they are not âblack enoughâ simply because of their lighter skin tone.
The beauty standards in America equally sabotages the meaning of true beauty, only showcasing a specific type of beauty. Rather than express to our children that beauty is universal, they would pressure you to visualize only one type. This is all a ploy, to get us to attack one another, to get us to destroy the empire we have built for ourselves. What better way to eliminate a threat than to just let it kill itself? Racial profiling, the act of suspecting or targeting a person of a certain race based upon observed or assumed characteristics or behavior of a racial or ethnic group, rather than on individual suspicion, has also been a major factor in this countryâs methods of a new world order. This factor is rather dangerous in consideration of the many lives slain throughout the recent years. Being subjected to degrading names and expectations of supremacistsâ society. Muslims are regarded as terrorists, Latinxâ are regarded as lethargic and worthless slobs; who donât wish to work and it corresponds with every other race, culture and ethnicity.
âMinority groups who endure everyday discrimination often suffer high rates of chronic diseases. And black, Latino and Asian customers get charged higher car interest rates than whites -- even if they have similar credit histories. â, this shows that racial profiling does in fact have very negative effects on people even going as far as mental/physical health issues. Racial profiling often branches from a bias called implicit bias-- a bias that might not be consciously aware of, one study has shown that white people would associate criminality with black people, without even realizing that theyâre doing so. Those tendencies can begin as young as five years of age (kindergarten). If we recognize our flaws and mistakes and come together as a country, we could accomplish so much more than these injustices allow. Love one another instead of despising one another based on envy and learned hatred. The acts of valor displayed for us by our own ancestors and powerful activists that risked everything to achieve what we have so far in this life. We shall not allow the words of acid to taint the dreams we strive for and the world we aspire our children to thrive in.
