Sparta was unique for its social system and constitution. There were three main groups of population in Sparta: the Spartans (full citizens), the Helots (serfs/slaves), the Perioeci (neither slaves nor citizens).
Sparta was a center of a warrior culture in ancient Greece. A Spartan was taught that loyalty to the state is major priority in their lives. At age 7 Spartan boys left their homes and started their military trainings. Spartan males became full-time soldiers at age 20 and remained until age 60.
Spartan women (citizens), had a status, power, and respect. Such a things were unknown in the rest of the world.
