Considering the fallible nature of humans, the need arises for a more prolific and innovative method in accomplishing tasks at a minimum risk, the advent of technology came as no surprise. To acclaim that the continual reliance on technology will ultimately diminish human’s thinking ability shows a shallow understanding. By weighing the pros against the cons, it becomes visible that technology majorly fosters human’s efficiency on problem tackling in the society.

Communication, the transfer of information across geographic distances, has a vital role in the daily societal activities. Initially means of communications were productive, however, they were mostly unreliable and time-consuming considering information was sent in letters across places. As time went by, technology caused a revolution that introduced the use of telephony to the benefit of the society. Not only did communication become more secure and less time consuming, it became easily affordable and available to all humans and increased the growth and development of the society. Therefore, more time were made available for other tasks.

Also, with a change in one era comes the advent of more challenging and complex problems which are beyond human’s predictions. Faced with global warming, using technological techniques, humans have devised ways of mitigating the complex problem which was once seemingly insurmountable. Since the major contributor to this problem is fossil fuel, human have discovered ways of harvesting vast renewable and pollution-free energy from wind, sun and fuel cells. Many developed countries like US, Germany and china, largely invested in renewable energy, have hugely depreciated their dependence on fossil fuel. Although renewable energy cost huge investment currently, humans are devising techniques of making such energy less expensive using technology.

In addition, the study of the possible of inhabiting another planet is becoming promising. Recent report from Italian space research institute showed good prospect in living on mars due to evidence of water bodies sited there. Satellites have been adequately designed and placed strategically at different locations for the continual observation of mar. With the fast growing population, the need would soon arise for another safe habitat for humans to live considering the limited landmass available on earth. Since technology made travelling to the moon which an accomplishment, the inhabitation of mar would likely be a done deal in the near future.

However, technology has had a negative effect in the rapid retrenchment of conventional jobs causing a reduced need of human intervention in accomplishing tasks and an increased unemployment, but technology has introduced new generation jobs like network administrator and cyber security engineer. Although different from the conventional jobs, the new generation jobs are more captivating and of better pay scales than the conventional jobs. This is evident as Google Incorporation electronic mail, Gmail, faced out the American post office from business. However, Google created new jobs like network and data base engineers to manage and maintain its mailing system.

In conclusion, to be of the opinion that the more and more humans’ dependence on technology would damage their ability to think for themselves is to fail to release the positive transformation technology has had on humans in the society. With technology as a tool, Human can better understand and tackle profoundly complex problems, once seemly insurmountable, and provide appropriate solutions in the society.
