Fear is one of the most general emotions that we as humans encounter in life. As children develop over time, their fear does too. Many people experience fear daily, whether it is a severe anxiety, or being afraid of something unknown. The most common definition of fear is an unpleasant emotion coursing through the mind and body, affecting one’s reaction. Fear naturally shows in times of danger, harm, or fearing for the future. Fear has a positive purpose in this current era. It can be positive because it can help people to recognize; react to fatal conditions and threats. A majority of people cannot grasp it, but they can use it as motivation. It can direct someone on what’s relevant, prepare for future challenges, and be cautious in unknown situations. It is an emotion inevitable throughout life.

Fears that someone may have can be a result of past experiences. The past can weigh emotionally heavily on many people. Some see it as a burden, something we must carry along wherever we go, but being afraid can cause people to think about the outcome of the future. If someone is anxious or worried about how a scenario might play out, there is a spike in productivity of planning to avoid the worst outcome. When an individual is planning and adjusting to avoid a fearful scenario, self-encouragement develops. Preparation and planning include tracking progress so far, upon seeing beyond current circumstances. Tracking progress while reaching a goal gives one perseverance and hope to overcome fear of a particular outcome.

While people can fear for future scenarios, fear can point out knowledge, skills, and abilities someone might lack in particular situations. One can examine their shortcomings and take necessary actions to diminish their hindrances. While fear points out someone’s deficiencies, their skills, knowledge, and abilities are more suitable if a similar situation occurs. One will be more equipped and eager to take control of the situation. Fear is just another type of motivation, and it is not comfortable or straightforward, but it forces someone to take action on challenges that people find difficult to face. Fear is an emotion that occurs when someone is handling a terrifying obstacle; it takes constraint and converts it into an opportunity for someone to gain.

While fear can be overwhelming, it can cause someone’s routines to drastically changed. When someone has experienced failure for a particular task, they fear attempting that task again. People question their routines and try to explore new habits and approaches that could provide them with a better outcome. Attempting new practices and strategies to achieve a better outcome than a previous one; will present someone with the capability to step outside of their comfort zone. They will be motivated to explore opportunities and risks.
