The digestive system includes mouth, salivary glands, liver, gallbladder, appendix esophagus, stomach, pancreas, large intestine and small intestine. The mouth starts the digestive system by the mouth breaking up food. The throat swallows the food. The salivary glands keep the mouth and digestive system moist because of mucous the saliva mixes with the food to help break down food to make it easier to process to the stomach. The esophagus transport food to the stomach it is in the posterior of the trachea and the heart and anterior from the spinal column. The stomach plays a big important role to the digestive system it stores energy in the body and is locate in the left upper quadrant. The liver filters the blood to distribute to the body and it is in the right upper quadrant. The liver contains hepatocyte, bile canaliculi and hepatic sinusoids. The gallbladder stores concentrate bile for digesting fats it is locate right upper quadrant posterior to the liver. The pancreas it produces insulin and endocrine and is located right behind the stomach in the left upper quadrant. The large intestine absorbs water and vitamins and stores waste. The small intestine completes the digestion and absorbs nutrients. The appendix contains cells of the immune system.

Such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating. All these eating disorder have similar signs and symptoms and are caused by the digestive system. This illness can harm any person from all ages and gender. According to Kramer eating disorder symptoms are: stomach pain, dizziness, fainting, tooth decay, weight gaining and internal bleeding. A person with eating disorder may be worrying about their body image as well as their body weight. They can distract themselves from eating by chewing gum eating ice cubes instead of food. A woman can have a irregular period for example skipping a month or having it for a day or two, possible getting your period to late or early. How does the illness cause its damage? Immunity, fighting or treating of illness.

Maria del Rosario 21-year-old women is recovering from anorexia an eating disorder. Maria said that her anorexia stage started during her senior year at her high school. She has been bullied by her peers because of her weight. “I always came home straight to my room crying under my covers every single day. I just wanted to be skinny like my favorite model I have tried very single diet and exercise” Maria was so desperate to lose weight that she started to harm her own body “I found out a method of losing weight really fast which was not eating for days just drinking water she told her friend ” her parents later on found out that their daughter was acting really weird seeing her not eat in the house.

So when she came home she found out a surprise that her father came out of work early to eat with them. “My parents made me eat in front of them I told them that I will eat a little because she had ate something already. When I was eating I felt disgusting, but I could leave the table until everyone was done eating. ” When every one had been finished eating she ran to her room she was so upset that she took a blade and cut her stomach “I had to punish my self for eating all that food. At school I saw that her shirt was red by the side of her body I asked her what happen but she didn’t want to tell me but I knew it was blood I could lose my best friend but I had to tell them the truth I didn’t want her to die because I didn’t do anything. Miss Rosario said“ when you told me about her diet, I have notice a huge change on her body lately like she’s been really tired, not eating in front of use she always took her food to her room and ate there. Her excuse was that she had so much homework and was due the next day so we accepted that she can eat in her room but we wanted to see her plate gone with no food”. What her parents didn’t know was that she was hiding her food in plastic bags under her bed. one day her mother came inside her room to put back the laundry and clean her room and found a huge surprise “ I could not believe my eyes when I was setting the bed I have found some plastic bags filled with food I called right way my husband”. Maria had so much stomach pain that she could not take it anymore.
