Doctors say a human body is a mechanism that is perfectly designed. A healthy and a proper functioning body is a self sufficient unit able to effectively deal with all kinds of daily challenges. Our bodies do not require conscious control in any of its functions, such as digestion, breathing, and giving a heartbeat; all by itself automatically. What our bodies require from us is a careful and proper handling to keep it healthy. If we misuse our bodies consuming fast foods, drinking alcohol, and keeping it physically inactive it will take away dangers. We usually dont pay attention to these dangers. I think one of the most dangerous and the most typical problem among them is the lack of sleep. If a human being were to sleep the right amount of hours the body of that person would be more active and healthy.
People today think that its normal to sleep less than six hours. Knowing that its wrong to sacrifice a couple hours of sleep in favor of other activities, jobs and other social responsibilities yet people still sleep less. Studies prove that people who sleep less than six hours per night are most likely to develop heart disease. Sleeping less also causes high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, stroke, and diabetes. On the contrary, those who practice healthy nutrition, moderate physical exercises, and sleep 6 or more hours per night, helps them lower their risks of getting heart disease by up to 65%.
A lack of sleep can be a reason for car accidents, airplane crashes, and other catastrophes. According to the American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the annual amount of car crashes by fatigue is 100,000. Poor sleep has a negative influence on job performance and critical thinking. Sleep deprivation can cause work accidents, and not being able to focus on what youre doing. If a person were to sleep the hours they need they can lower the risk to be in accidents and be more focused on what theyre doing.
Perhaps one of the weirdest effects of sleep deprivation is the influence on food consumption. When people dont get their sleep they feel hungry and weak; therefore, they eat more food to get energy. Yet they dont realize the harm they are making because when the body doesnt sleep it takes longer to degust. Their bodies get fat and they eventually develop obesity that can cause them health problems to their bodies like diabetes, high cholesterol, and stress and also heart problems.
In our modern, fast paced world, the lack of sleep has become almost a normal and common thing that people do these days. However, its negative effect being strongly underestimated by people. Among the most common malfunctions caused by sleep deprivations one can develop heart problems, low concentration and increased risks of getting into accidents, and its indirect contribution to the development of obesity.
