Women’s rights are a global issue. Nowhere in the world do women have the same liberties as male counterparts. In some parts of the world women are expected to be housewife’s when they have the potential to be so much more. Men and women should have equal rights when it comes to having an education, a job and respect because women have just as much maybe even more potential as men.
In some place’s women don’t receive the education they need; the society thinks it’s better off that they just stay home and just take care of their family while a man can get his education, work and get paid good. Everyone has a right to get an education regardless of their gender or even how they look. A woman who is educated increases a country’s productivity growth. Educating females would hurt the ones that are stopping them from getting it, and that’s why their holding them back; A woman with an education knows her rights and has a better understanding of what she deserves. TheirWorld online film stated “when girls go to school, they grow into women who have more say over their lives and have and an increased sense of their worth and capabilities. They are less likely to be subjected to domestic violence and will participate more in decision-making in households”. The girls that get to attend school receive the knowledge they need to know about the rights they do and should have but they don’t so they keep them out of the school systems so they don’t know, but women are way smarter and they realize what’s happening.
When women want to work, they usually have a harder time finding a job than men, because they aren’t allowed access to get any job they want. This problem is mostly in Northern Africa and the Arab states according to the International Labour Organization, “where unemployment rates for women exceed 16%”. Women across the world are banned from some jobs because men assume, they can’t handle it and they feel as though women should be a plain house wife. As children, little girls see how their mothers, or just any woman figure treated the way that they do so they think it’s normal. Women have so much potential to be a manager, a CEO or maybe even a president, the thing about it is once women finally do get the job they deserve or just simply want, there’s always a gender gap, and men and women don’t get paid the same, so it’s like a win lose situation. According to the International Labour Organization, “women want to be in paid employment, but a persistent set of socio-economic barriers keep them out of the workforce. Identifying and quantifying these barriers allows us to develop smarter policy responses for eliminating them”. Making men and women receive the same pay is good for their households and the world’s economy all together.
Men and women have yet to receive the same respect, one gender is always held higher than the other like it’s a competition, when we’re all equivalent. Being fair and treating others how you want to be treated goes a long way, but men don’t give women the same respect unless it’s their significant other sometimes maybe even their mother, if she’s lucky. Everyone is entitled to respect no matter what they look like, and even if you don’t necessarily like the person.
In conclusion, all around the world there is nowhere, where women have full rights and or get treated equally. Gender equality should automatically be a human right, that means both genders are able to share equally in the distribution of power and influence; have equal opportunities for financial independence through work or through setting up businesses; enjoy equal access to education and the opportunity to develop personal ambitions, talents, ability and skills; share responsibility for the home and children and are completely free from pressure, intimidation and gender-based violence both at work and at home.
